READ THIS!
Punctuation and grammar mistakes litter this little book, which is a pity because it deserves the best production possible. However, the sense is always clear and they do nothing to prevent a 5-star rating. This is a mine of information, well presented and easy to understand. The author's critiques of the industry and his explanations of literally everything else to do with hearing aids are deep and refreshingly open. Revelations abound, both of things we know about and others that have never even occurred to us. Nobody contemplating the purchase of hearing aids should fail to read it.

Must have reference book for hearing loss
When I first suspected I had hearing loss, I didn’t know what to do and where to begin. Fortunately, I ordered this book from amazon and it turned out to be my Dr. Spock for hearing loss and hearing aids. From the first page, author Geoffrey Cooling gently and humorously walked me through the various stages from acknowledgement to audiologist visit, understanding the audiogram, categories of hearing loss, the impact of hearing loss on confidence - balance - energy, styles and brands of hearing aids, digital vs. analog, wonders of Bluetooth, assistive listening devices, hearing aid maintenance, and so much more.Equally important, he helped adjust my attitude. I initially thought if I need a hearing aid, I will get one that fits way inside my ear so no one will know. He helped me realize the number one thing is the ability to hear well (sounds and word recognition). Forget vanity. Anyone who thinks less of me for wearing hearing aids or feels sorry for me is living in the dark ages, and is borderline ignorant or worse. I feel fortunate to be the beneficiary of today’s incredible digital technology and am proud to wear them. So much better than people whispering behind your back that you can’t hear.I have this book on my kindle, as well as a hard copy. I still refer to it when questions arise. It guided me through what was a depressing point of my life and often made me smile. With hearing aids, my life has become so much better. I never realized how much I was missing. If you know someone who is having difficulty hearing, or who has just entered the hearing loss world, this is the perfect gift!

Must read
I devoured this book. It contains all of the stuff that your retailer does not tell you and that’s not printed in the glossies. A hearing aid is a high-tech device, like a smart phone, but cost five time as much. That’s M.O. for health-related devices and services. There is an entire pipeline is everyone is onboard. Learn about the manufactures, the providers, and the products. Don’t start your search before reading this book.

confusing world of hearing aids
I have very poor hearing and I needed aid that would pair with may Samsung phone and with my carrier. It is amazing how few aids will meet these parameter. This book helped sort out the top of the line aids that would met my needs. I one has only mild hearing loss, most any aid will do, but if you are nearly deaf, you need the best and this book helps locate them
