Q: Is this literally the same thing you can get from aesop directly for $39? Why is it 2x the price?

I wondered that, too, so I did some research and found at least two stores that sell it online for $39 plus free shipping. I was unable to determine if the bottles are glass or plastic. Q: Does this product work?

Depending on what you are expecting it to do... it works for me. It smells wonderful, my hands feel great afterwards, it makes me feel great, but I will always associate it with where I first came across it, which was at a dear friends home where I visit once per year, so hard to tell how much of my love for the product is influenced by those loving memories.
