Ability to deliver four stereo channels to four individual mini-amplifiers
First off, I'm not using this device the way most people would use it, e.g. multiple headphones. In other words I use this device to distribute my digital music, via my DAC (digital to analogue converter), to four of my five mini-amplifiers. And to this end it works beautifully, it has a volume control for each of the four stereo output channels, as well as an overall volume and balance control and, unexpectedly, more headphone input sockets on it's back than I could ever use (these sockets are not displayed on Amazon). That said, the sound conveyed is clean and detailed with, on rare occasions and to my ears, a slight brittleness in the upper frequencies but nothing I cannot live with. Overall, I find this device easy to use, more controls than I could ever want (I'm a set and forget kinda guy) and it delivers what I bought it for, i.e. distributing streamed music from my DAC to my mini-amplifiers.However, there are a few things I am not partial to, such as the flashing diodes, the plastic look and feel of the device and the fact that it's bigger than I thought it would be. But again, these little nit pickings are nothing that I cannot live with because the overall functionality, usefulness and sound this device conveys far outweighs it's aesthetics. Finally, I would say that this device is well worth the cost, at under £40 (I paid £39.99), and recommend it to anyone that has to pass a stereo signal onto four other devices.

Good solution if you need more headphone outputs.
I needed to expand the headphone amps on my audio interface, which only has one headphone output. This seemed like the most cost effective solution to expand the headphone outputs. It will power 4 pairs headphones simultaneously, all with their own levels. I used a stereo quarter inch jack that splits into 2 mono (left and right) quarter inch jacks that go into the back of the headphone amp.The build quality is ok. It is quite lightweight and the body is made of plastic. The sound quality is perfectly fine as well. The only negative thing that I can say is that due to being so lightweight, it would be easily pulled off of a work-top of desk, which I have almost done a few times, while tripping over a headphone lead. I may need to use Blu Tack or something like this to fix it in place and stop it for sliding about so easily.

Hearing loss compensation
Being somewhat aged with severe hearing loss, my electronic piano sounds awful through hearing aids. Using this headphone amp with the FBQ300 equalizer, I am able to correct frequency losses and balance the weaker ear gain to give me a realistic piano sound. Highly recommended for anyone suffering hearing problems.

Works best with a preamp and efficient headphones
I have constructed headphone amps, and I still use them. I just wanted to try this one. When I unplugged the power unit the top came off. I thought the amp was faulty, but it just required a fairly high input level, and efficient headphones to fully load the input and output. The sound quality is good for an amp with a single 9 volt power supply. It can heat up so I sit the amp on top of the optional matching 9 band equaliser to help the ventilation/ cooling. The equaliser has a preamp and level control which helps to load the input, but any preamp will do. The matallic look is all plastic. All problems have been resolved, and I still use the amp. Specifications: Max output 124mw into 100 ohm load. Minimum output impedance 47 ohm. Input impedance 20k ohm balanced, 10k ohm unbalanced.

Does the job and excellent value
Useful little unit, bought for use with an analogue mixer and audio interface for online jamming through Jamkazam. Allows four people to play together through one line connection, with headphones. Rear panel input/output sockets allow pass through of signal to powered monitors. Not a very strong case, so not really up to portable usage, but just fine for my purposes!
