Tai Chi Ball Workout for Beginners with David-Dorian Ross - YMAA Tai Chi DVD

The best TaiJiFit workout yet
I have them all, but this one is a step up from all the others because of the progression through all 3 workouts and because David-Dorian Ross is in his wheelhouse when teaching. When he has students demonstrating behind him, sometimes there is a joking performance aspect that is not here, and that's good because here he focuses on teaching the small details of form that really help a student progress. From foot placement to weight shifts, in thia DVD he focuses much more than he does on other DVDs.The 3 workouts build on each other from open hand to 2 small balls to 1 large ball. Which means you can use any size balls, or cans of soup, or dumbbells that you want. If you do 1# cans of soup for the second workout, you can do a basketball for thethird. Or 3# weighted balls for the second and a kettlebell for the third. Or do all three open hand. Or use pingpong balls if needed. But there is vast room for individual student improvement, which is absent in most straight forward workouts.I've bought all the TaiJiFit DVDs and enjoy them on a rotation, but this particular DVD is by far his best as a teacher.

Good for beginners to advanced
I am an advanced student of Taiji and find this instructor to be clear, easy to follow and informative. The publisher, YMAA, backs up their products with excellent customer support.

Great for Beginners
I am a beginner. Tai Chi was briefly explained but then he got right into it. I liked that... sort of like "on the job training." I did not get the Tai Chi balls but I'm taking the advice of other reviewers and using soup cans as weights. They seem about right. (For the husbands out there... NOT empty soup cans)... I haven't gone through the entire DVD yet, but so far, so good. The price was right for what you get.

Love it. Easy to follow. Made for beginners.
Mr. Ross is a very good teacher. I found his instructions easy to follow not only verbally, but his movements as well. He understands that he is teaching beginners and his teaching method reflects that. There is a hint, at the end of the video, that he might be making more Tai Chi ball videos since there is so much more to learn. I hope that is true because I will more than likely purchase them.

Adding a new dimension to my Tai Chi!
Love doing the Tai Chi Ball Workout. I have been doing Tai Chi for 6 years -- but this is adding a new dimension to it. Working on my rhythm/flow. Am very excited to be noticing a difference!

This is a great deal of fun
This is a great deal of fun. I think concentrating on getting the balls handled correctly actually makes the other parts easier. I have several of Mr Ross's DVDs. I really like doing this after a tough day at the office.

Very well presented
Have watched this DVD with all its different routines as a sort of “what’s to come exercise”, and have to say they all look pretty good. Instructions are very clear and easy to follow as he goes through each step thoroughly and clearly and explains why this way and it’s benefits which is nice. All i need now is someone to come round my house on a daily basis n give me a kick up the arse, especially as from watching other Qigong attempts at a DVD this one will be beneficial. Thank you

Good but rather short and simple
Good as a brief introduction but short and limited in substance. I would have liked more background and discussion of movement, use of the Dan Tian etc.Having said that, it is great for beginners, which is the type of practitioner it is actually intended for, and the demonstrations are clear and easy to follow.

Another fantastic product by David-Dorian Ross
Another fantastic product by David-Dorian Ross. I eagerly await new Tai Chi programmes from him; perhaps some intermediate level work.

David Dorian Ross is absolutely the best in teaching Tai Chi
David Dorian Ross is absolutely the best in teaching Tai Chi, which can be quite complicated. If you're a beginner, or even a student of Tai Chi, this is a great product. Cannot be more highly recommended.
