I had that analog computer amplifier so I connected it to this device itself connected to the tv set and we have high quality sound with deep bass!Only one problem the tv set remote doesn’t control the volume of this digital device so you have to get up and manually adjust it😩

That one can buy such a thing for $14 is amazing. I’m using it to connect the optical digital output of my TV to an older stereo receiver. TV output must be set to PCM stereo. It works perfectly in this role. I like that it comes with a real power supply. The supplied optical cable is flimsy, but works fine. The blue LED power indicator is really bright, might want to put a bit of electrical tape over it if you find it distracting. Sound quality is not audiophile reference, but is more than adequate especially considering the low price. Overall I’m happy with this little DAC.

I bought this to replace to replace the reliable, 8 year old one I stole from my stereo and installed on my girlfriends stereo. This unit works fine so far. We'll see if it is as reliable as the Toslink branded one it is replacing. The only issue I have is that the Amazon description said up to 192Khz sampling rate. When I received it the box said 96Khz was the max sampling rate. The instructions, however, say 192Khz. Confusing, but after some research I discovered that 44.1Khz is sufficient; a rate this also supports. I was thinking MP3 conversion rate related to sampling rate on these device for sound quality. Apparently it does not. Minus one star for the incorrect advertising.

Item did not work. I returned it for a refund and bought the Amazon Basics device to replace it. The Amazon Basics device was great.

First of all, this is great for me, but I would understand why not many others would want this. It's great for my situation because I have an old soundbar that I got from a yard sale that has a damaged optical Port. In order to hook a soundbar up to a television nowadays you pretty much have to use an optical cord or Bluetooth. This soundbar doesn't have Bluetooth capabilities and the optical Port is broken. I was able to purchase this for around 10 bucks and hook it up to my soundbar through RCA cords and then to the TV through an optical cable. This saved me a bunch of money so that I didn't have to replace my entire soundbar.The cons are that I cannot adjust the volume of my soundbar with my TV remote because the connection is not directly through an optical cable. Likewise, the optical cable included is the flimsiest optical cable I've ever seen in my life and I had no idea that they made them this thin. It's super fragile and would definitely break if you had to mess with it all the time, but I definitely won't have to for what I'm using it for.Overall, I think I made the right purchase because it's perfect for my circumstance, it sounds pretty good and doesn't seem to take away from the quality of my soundbar, but I'd caution others to maybe look elsewhere if you think this product will be too fragile because it probably will be.

I use a 49" LG TV as a monitor for my computer. For some reason, I was never able to get headphones working with the computer, when using an Nvidia driver and HDMI connection. I was hesitant on buying this because I never messed with spdif output. I received it yesterday and 5 minutes later I was enjoying music with headphones. Pretty much plug and play. I'm loving it. Thinking about getting another one, for my sons computer (on a 42" tv monitor).

Great product. Perfectly converting my new SONY TV optimal sound to my old sound system. We had some problem with it after one year of use and the seller just sent us a replacement without any hesitation. strongly recommend this product!

I bought this to hear samsung tv through stereo receiver. Worked on some streaming channels but just buzzing on others. Easy fix once I figured it out. Go into settings on the samsung tv and change the sound setting from dolby to PCM, then it works excellent. No issues now, I am happy with the purchase, it is exactly what I needed.
