The Writer's Lexicon: Descriptions, Overused Words, and Taboos

Very helpful for improving my writing
I ordered all three books in this set and I've found them all to be very helpful. I'm working on my fourth science fiction novel and I try to improve my writing with each new book. I've been trying to improve my dialog as well as character development. The Writer's Lexicon has already helped me find more active words to describe and develop my characters and I've only been using the books for 2 or 3 weeks. I've noticed the difference and the improvements and I think my loyal readers will too. If you're a writer struggling to improve your writing, The Writer's Lexicon is a great addition to your reference library. Highly recommended.

Five Stars
Gave it to my granddaughter who is a budding young (14) novelist. Going to order one for myself.

Really helpful info
The book is great! It contains really good information for both the aspiring and the experienced writers. However, it isn’t easy to find the information within the book when looking for something specific. That being said, I’m glad I bought it.

Frustrating
This is a writer's aid, full of useful information, which is nearly impossible to access. Alphabetical order rules. So if I want to find sounds for anger, I have to wade through three pages of onomatopoeia to find them. Compared with the simplicity of Angela Ackerman's The Emotions Thesaurus, this is an impenetrable thicket.
