A great gift
I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend for Christmas and we both love lego and various building sets along with the Mario games. This was a great gift for him and I loved getting to see him put it together and how well it connects with the other Knex Mario sets we have.

Fun, But It Aint LEGOs
My son likes it fine, but all of the K'NEX toys are a little rickety. The actions don't work all that well and the little components come apart. If you are used to LEGOs, this will be frustrating for you. But...if your kid likes Mario this is what you get.

I'm 35 and had a little difficulty putting it together.
My son didn't want to put it together at all because the parts were so small and he has fine motor issues. Once I got it all together, he was happy to play with it, but it took some practice to learn to angle the launcher part just right. It is not super sturdy though and seems like it will come apart again and I'll just have to rebuild it for him. It is hard for me to judge if this is recommended for the right age group or not since my son has some delays.

Overpriced
I really regretted buying this once it arrived and I saw a sticker on it that said $9.99. I was so irritated being that I paid over $25 for it. The only reason I didn't return it was because it was a last minute gift.

I wouldn't buy this again. The goombas and Mario are cute but it doesn't lend itself to creativity ONce you put it together there's nothing else to do with it.

This was a gift for my 8 year old daughter. She loves legos so I thought of trying K'nex too. She does really enjoy playing with them and likes the characters. The set did require some help from me to put together, but it's a great toy.
