I knew my wife would like it
If you are a Jan Karon or Phillip Gulley fan, you will love these books. My wife is already recommending them to her sisters. Quaint, funny, rated G without the foul language and violence. What a good read.

Small town with a big heart
Butternut Creek is a little town complete with old Victorian houses, church social events, enthusiasm for high school football games and their marching bands, and kindly busybodies. The story centres around the new pastor, who is a young man in his twenties and another young man who has returned from military service minus one leg. They aren't the "welcome committee". The committee is composed of two older ladies who see themselves as matchmakers and who meddle in the lives of these men, and others, with positive intentions. But you could look on the entire town as a welcome committee because they do all seem to look out for each other. This was a delightful story, made more so by the skillful narration in Audible format. The narrator was able to portray many individuals, both male and female, with distinctly different voices. On the strength of this book I have already purchased the second in the series.

Fun read
This book is a delight. I laughed out loud, and at times, shed a tear or two. Lots of interesting characters too.

Engaging
The author has effectively captured the adventures of a pastor in a small-town church. As a pastor, I have met many of those people and faced similar situations. She approaches the situations with humor and sensitivity. For a romance novel, I was surprised that the author addressed serious situations with grace, I am looking forward to reading the other books in this series.

A fun read as a First Time Minister meets the Church Ladies!
This is the first book in a series and I loved it. Delightful reading about a young, single minister, hired by a small church in a small town in Texas and a group of church ladies and others in the community welcoming him, accepting him, and his finding his way in his new life. It is fun reading. Not only did I read this and the other books in the series, I shared my books with family and friends, and recommended it to my out of town friends. I suspect it is probably the book equivalent of a "chick flick", knowing the guys in my family would not appreciate it. I look forward to more books by this author.

Fun and entertaining.
This is just a sweet take on life in a small town, especially if you are the outsider, as wll as developing the personalities in that small comunity. Very charming and full of warmth and good humor. It's why you read fiction.Everyone has a story....this is a very good one.

This book has EVERYTHING !
I read this book and felt joy, happiness, laughter, and sorrow when I finished because I wanted the book to continue. I am not sure if this is Mrs. Perrine's first try, but she has found her calling.I can't wait to read her next book!

The Welcome Committee of Butternut Creek: A Novel By Jane Myers Perrine
A delightful book best describes this novel! Add warm, witty, romantic and sweet, and you have a full description. The "widows" of Butternut Creek are matchmakers such as you may not have seen before. Determined to get single men and women together, they use whatever means they have, some they even invent as needed. In this book, we meet a veteran of war, a Captain, who has suffered the loss of his leg plus other trauma. Add in a physical therapist with two young sons, and the widows see Opportunity with a capital O! I'm still laughing as I write this. Not to spoil your reading of this gem, I'll say no more, except "Enjoy and be Blessed!" π

A feel good book
This is the type of book I enjoy reading. No crime, no violence, no explicit sex. A story about love, goodness, and caring for others. This book is an enjoyable visit with the folks of Butternut Creek.

Great story
My husband is a pastor, so I enjoyed the humor in the book even when some of the familiar situations weren't quite as humorous for us at the time. Great story, and I thoroughly enjoyed the author's style.
