Humanity Despite Severe Trial!
I have had the privilege of knowing Robert before he wrote this book, and was always inspired by something about him but could never figure it out until now: despite the most severe of trials, he never loses his humanity! What I mean by this is that in all of the adventures and endurance trials he accomplished, he always managed to find humour and a way to "play" in the midst of it, like he was a kid. Some books try to impose upon the reader that they are to numb out and become less something (emotional, sad, sorrowful, joyful, etc.) in order to over come. Robert encourages the reader to "embrace the suck" and "find a win", which for him was finding a way to make hardship into a game that brought play, humour, and ultimately joy. What a great book!

Inspirational Read
I would highly recommend this book. Not only is it an easy/quick read but also very inspiration. The fact that anyone can run 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents is pretty incredible---it is even remarkable when that person is in their 'senior years'.This book really inspired me to push harder during my work outs and not make age an excuse. I am looking forward to my 'senior years' with much more optimism. This is a great book to give away too. I recently purchased 20 copies and have been giving them to friends, co-workers and family.

Book on Running not Leadership
3 stars was being lenient. While I respect Owen's tremendously. This is barely a book on leadership. It just seems that an Air Force PJ decided to take the Navy Seal route and write a leadership book that's more about a person running a lot. It's cool, it was a fun read, but all I learned was too workout hard you must workout hard. No discredit to his accolades but I purchased this wanting to walk away a better leader. ROI was not worth it. I couldn't wait to finish the book so I could grab a meater leadership book .

5 Challenges in 8 Months
At age 66, the author completed 5 insanely hard challenges in less than a year. He is a doer, not a talker. Whether hiking 240 miles across Greece, racing up the Pacific coastline, completing a brutal 50-hour physical and mental beatdown, competing in multiple triathlons, or running 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days, Robert Owens competes against others in their teens and 20’s. This book, honest and humble, recounts a series of oversized adventures in 2017. He succeeds in his goal to encourage and inspire.
