Works great. Easy installation and a BRIGHT light!
I have 3 Maglite D cell flashlights from the late 1990s/early 2000s - 6D, 4D and 2D. We were cleaning out the barn attic and I found my old Maglites. These were state of the art in the day - solid aluminum, bright (pre-LED) and a good self-defense tool if needed. I was about to throw them out. They were collecting dust not being used because I have the newer/more powerful and brighter LED flashlights. It gets dark here out on the farm and a bright flashlight beam is a necessity at night. I saw by chance a YouTube video on upgrading these Maglites so I went on Amazon to see what was available. These LiteXpress LED upgrade replacement bulbs are not cheap, but they work great, are easy to install and provide a nice BRIGHT light. These LED replacement are competitive with my current single LED flashlights. Brought back to use from the 1990s with LED technology into the 2020s. The 6D and 4D Maglites require this 530 lumen replacement. The 2D Maglite needs a different part - use the 435 lumen. Voltage does matter. Simply unscrew the cap and take out the lens of the flashlight. It all unscrews with the cap, lens and an O-ring. Take out the reflector funnel. Unscrew the old incandescent bulb housing, then screw in the new LED housing. Replace the reflector funnel, lens, O-ring and cap and it's done. I replaced the old scratched lenses with new Welltool lenses in the process. Done. Great way to refurbish AND re-use these old classic but extremely well built Maglites. A great flashlight and club/tool as needed with the LEDs. The 6D will be used by the night stand. 4D will now be in my farm truck. The 2D is back where it belongs in the front closet. Highly recommended to repurpose your old Maglite flashlights. Just make sure you use the right LED replacement part based on the number of D sized batteries the old Maglite uses.

Nice upgrade for MagLite
Pricey but they are a much needed upgrade for old MagLites. Much brighter and I read it helps battery life of the D's.

I was pleasantly surprised
The original bulb on my 4 D Maglite emitted a sort of dull orange beam. Not very bright at all. After replacing it with the 530 LED, I couldn't believe the improvement. Very bright, white beam with a large hot spot and some side spill. I have a couple of 3 D Maglites that I upgraded to LED 15 years ago. They are okay, But the LED technology has come a long way since then. This one runs circles around them. Sure, the extra D battery makes a difference in brightness, but the beam pattern on the 530 LED is so much better. Installation was easy. Twist the head off, unscrew the old bulb, and screw in the new bulb, put the head back on and done. Perfect fit.

Great for a 3D Mag Lite but make sure you get what you order.
The replacement part works great in a 3D Mag lite. Much brighter than the old candescent bulbs, as expected. Be sure to check your seller's rating before buying. I purchased a new part and received a part that had been cut out of its package, put back in its packaged and taped shut. Like that wouldn't be noticed?

Six stars!
Six stars! If I could, I would give it six stars. I had an old 3 D Maglite with and incandescent bulb... Wow! Simply wow! the improvement in illumination is enormous. It's like having a brand new 500 lumen LED flashlight. Super recommended upgrade. As a plus, installation was super easy. Took a minute to do it. Other users have pointed out that you can't change the focus of the beam, but that is not true. Maybe you don't have the range of the original bulb but for me it is enough with what you can do.

Works great in a 3 D-cell MagLite
I have a 3 D-cell MagLite. This LiteXpress LXB530 is a direct drop-in replacement for the krypton bulb that came with my MagLite. The LXB530 is extremely bright compared to the krypton bulb that came with the MagLite. And I really like my MagLite because it is a simple operation -- push the bottom for ON an then push the button for OFF. Simple. I'm not a fan of the latest MagLite versions with multiple button presses for different functions. So here is the funny story: first I put the LXB530 into my 3 D-cell MagLite but it didn't work. I rechecked it with the krypton bulb and it was fine. Put the LXB530 back in and it still didn't work. So I got my 4 D-cell MagLite and installed the LXB530 and everything worked fine. So I decided to replace the D-cells with my rechargeable D-cells (Amazon B01ASF5JVG ; Tenergy Centura) to see if the reduced voltage from the NiMH rechargables was enough to power the LXB530 bulb. I removed one, two, three Duracells. Hum... where is the 4th battery? I looked inside my MagLite but there wasn't a 4th battery in there. Ha! MagLites are longer than regular flashlights and what I though was a 4-cell was actually a 3-cell. Then I opened up my previous flashlight and sure enough there were only 2 batteries. Ha! So I did indeed confirm that the LXB530 does not work with 2-cell MagLites. But 3 of my 1.2V Tenergy Centura NiMH are indeed enough to power the LXB530 in my 3-cell MagLite.
