First off, it doesn't STINK like other cutting mats. It's not stinky! No smell! Ok, a small smell of plastic but no offensive chemical smell like those other nasty things. Secondly, you hardly even feel the cuts in it. Should last a very long time. And it's big and really nice. Love it! SO easy to use.

This mat is not as self healing as I would have expected for the price. My rotary cutter leaves significant groves that are definitely not healing. The larger size allows for efficient cutting of larger pieces of fabric. Lies flat and has little or no odor. The surface of this mat has not stood up well even after only a few months of intermitant use. I would not buy this mat again.

This is a spectacular cutting mat!! Firstly, it truly is as odorless as I think any mat could ever be. I can only detect a very faint sweet smell which I think must be the natural material itself, and only by pressing my nose to it. I gave it to my extremely chemically sensitive daughter to examine and she did not react at all which never happens. Usually it takes 30 seconds of chemical exposure for her to be sick. I am using it for paper cutting and the cuts heal smoothly and quickly. The surface is firm and it lies flat. It did not come folded, thankfully, but I still had to place a few books on it overnight to get rid of a very slight warp. It's fine now. Even for those who think they are not sensitive to chemicals...why take a chance? This is a far superior product to the cheap, noxious products made in China!!!

I received this today, in excellent condition. I'm very pleased that it does not have any strong chemical odors. I ordered the small mat to use it for several weeks, to see if I want to buy the large tabletop size from them. I use a mat every day for rotary cutting for quilts.

I am new to quilting and have purchased several self-healing rotary mats to try out. This was the worst one. Not only is it NOT self-healing, but the rotary cutter actually cuts into the board. Now I have a cutting board that will fold in half because one side of the board is cut almost all the way through. Save your money.
