Q: Why does it make a cracking noise when you pour hot coffee in it?

This is a very odd question that we have never heard of. I asked the production supervisor and the only thing we could think of is this is coming from the foam insulation inside of the mug. It can be why its making this noise but it should not cause problems.

Q: Does the inside of the handle have ridges or is it smooth?

It has vertical ridges inside the handle and small amount of ridges on the outside of the handle where your thumb would go.
