Truly the mother load!!!
My 11 year old has been a rock hound since he started walking. He loves finding cool rocks, gemstones and fossils! My dad is also a rock hound & gold panner, so we thought this would be a fitting gift for him to give my son for Christmas. We've gotten the cheaper gemstone kits from Walmart, and he had fun with them for about 20 minutes. This kit came with so much sand, he was able to do a little bit here and there, and it lasted almost a month!! He got 2 huge geodes, lots of cool rocks and gems, and tons of fossils and shark teeth! We're pretty sure there were a few dinosaur teeth in there too, they were way too big to be shark teeth! My son LOVED this kit so much- he finished it tonight and asked us to hide some of the rocks in the sand so he could do it again and said "it's infinite fun!" 😂 I highly recommend this for anyone who loves panning & rocks! ☺️

Wow, size, shape and extra items (fossils) were amazing.
Loads of large rocks and fossils were in this mining kit. My children absolutely loved trying to identify each rock.

Great for 8- and 5-yr., bday party, detailed contents.
Used for 8 yr. old son’s bday, with a 5 yr. old, 9 yr. old and 12-yr. old present as well. Great to have experience outside in driveway instead of booking in mountains. All liked, though 12 yr. is especially understanding boy, to be fair, 9 yr. girl didn’t keep all of hers but seemed to enjoy going through it with her mom, the younger ones were thrilled. (Especially the 5 yr. girl, who made constant exclamations or delighted surprise.) birthday boy loved, too. One note is that parents helped pour right amount and even sifting for 5-yr., and all kids were kind of caught up separately, though there were shouts on especially interesting finds and showing parents, the kids themselves were so focused on their own. It was fine, but that’s just how it went.Contents:It’s a small bag of sand, with tons of chunks of ‘gems’ as you pour it out, you kind of don’t need to sift a whole lot bc it’s mostly uncovered but it’s fun if you pour a little at a time, it still takes a bit. Great for us for easily 30 minutes, then we let them rinse trays with the hose and left it outside to dry. There are also tons upon tons of teeth, which are not identified in the otherwise nice chart. Most gems are easy to tell, as differences between amethyst and pyrite is obvious, and many are pretty large. I think each kit had an arrowhead - definitely the most exciting, and pieces of geodes. Each kit comes with a nice red plastic sifting tray, a bag of sand about the size of a small bag of sugar (3 lbs?), a chart in plastic ziplock, and a nice pull string bag (have marker handy bc there is place to write their names) for each.
