Quiet and powerful replacement for my polaris pool booster pump
I bought this to replace my Polaris PB4SQ. It came with everything I needed to switch over. My Polaris was wired for 220V and this was pre-wired for 220V as well, but looked super easy to switch to 110V thanks to the jumper. Wiring was easy, the only thing missing from the kit was the electrical grommit locknut for the wiring input but I already had this on my Polaris so no extra purchase needed. If you're buying for a new install or don't have your wires in a flex conduit but want to add that, you'll need to purchase that seperately. The performance is good, my Polaris 280 was zooming around with plenty of suction and had my pool sparkling quickly. This pump is very quiet, no louder than my main pool pump which is very pleasant compared to how loud my PB4SQ was getting as it failed. Independent reviews said that this should reduce my power consumption by 35% but I haven't got a bill yet to tell. It was a little higher priced than the polaris replacement pump but it's so quiet and works so well that I am very pleased with it. Overall, booster pump prices are higher than before due to supply chain etc so the value isn't as good, but I'm glad I spent the $40 extra for the Hayward than the Polaris. The pump was double boxed and designed to protect the pump, it got to me in great condition. Installation took me around an hour, mostly because I kept stopping to double check everything as it was my first pump install/replacement - if you're experienced at this I expect you'll do it faster. No leaks, no noises, plenty of suction, great product. Remember to let the main pool pump prime the booster before you turn on the booster, both first time you use it and on your timers, if you can - I have my booster come on about 30mins later than the main pool pump. Saved me a bunch of money as my pool maintenance guy wanted double the price of the pump to install a new one. For the same price I replaced the pump, put a new feed hose on my cleaner, and rebuilt the cleaner with new moving parts - plus had money left over.

Replaced Hayward Booster with this Hayward booster....10 min and running.
Easy DIY install, flip the breaker, take a picture of original wiring, unhook (11 screws including the ground) wire the same way as the picture and flip the breaker back on. Polaris was up and running with a quiet new motor. It came with all kinds of adapter fittings, but I was replacing old model for new model so only used the new gaskets.

switched from Pentair LA01N, super easy and better product
I have replaced my booster pump twice in ten years and went with the Pentair LA01N both times because that is what was here when i bought the house. I decided to switch brands just to try Hayward and I liked the claims of better energy efficiency. It was a super easy swap out with the supplied retrofit nozzles for the hoses—just popped them off the old pump, took a picture of the wiring with my phone so I didn’t screw it up, and had it going in about 30 mins. It is immediately quieter than the Pentair—which wasn’t loud—but I could hear it working without going right up to it. Now I have to walk right up to the unit. It seems to be moving the pool sweep just fine so I’m happy with the unit. It’s about $100 more than the Pentair and seems like a more solid unit. If it saves a few dollars because it really is more energy efficient then I guess that will eventually make up for the higher price. Ultimately how the unit holds up to this TX heat and random freezes will be the main criteria I use to say it’s “better”. But so far I like it better.
