Marguerita McManusT-Shirt Quilts: Quilt As You Go

Perfect for anyone wanting to make their own t-shirt quilts; LOVE book & author; worth every penny
As a "newbe" quilter, I have read every word of this book and appreciate the detail, the advice, and the real care made by its author. McManus dedicates her book and each page to helping readers make their own t-shirt quilts. Author uses and clearly describes the Quilt-as-you-go (QAYG) technique of quilting blocks and then joining blocks together to make the memory quilt. This is exactly what I was looking for. I have just a home sewing machine and wanted not only to make the quilt top but also to do all of the machine quilting and binding myself (versus paying someone with a free-arm to do it). In addition to clearly describing the QAYG technique, McManus guides readers through the process of planning the quilt top using multiple design styles and options. One of my favorite sections is where she tells readers how to add borders to t-shirt pieces to accommodate a standard block size. For example, if you have a small but important t-shirt piece that you want to use for your quilt top, many options are presented for easily adding additional fabric as borders, in order to create a block size that will "match" the rest of the blocks in your quilt. Her advice through out the book is worth every penny of this excellent text. She speaks from experience, for sure. Best of all, she is a coach as well as an author (she writes with a clear, strong voice), providing encouragement and support throughout the process. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book/author.

Very Helpful Book for T-Shirt Quilt maker
I'm on my 3rd T-shirt quilt & I after wrestling with huge quilts I wanted to do quilt as you go by the square. The book is comprehensive and I am loving quilting small blocks. I also loved making the blocks. Haven't tried sewing them together yet, but the book gives good instructions on how to do that. The author gives 4 styles of quilts for designing help and suggestions for making the most of your fabric when cutting strips.I used the internet to teach myself for the first 2 quilts, but this book fills in a lot I didn't know and puts it in my hands for easy reading and reference. It's worth the money.

Ok book but not exactly what I needed.
I wanted general techniques not specific patterns. I did not care for the patterns.

Good reference book.
Great Book to have around to make these. Most of the hints were already in use by me but the there was some others in there I can now put in practice. Everybody thinks ypu can just cut out the shirts and sew them together. Not sew tshirt quilts are harder to work with then some of the more intricate pattern quilts!

I cannot rate this book since it was only glanced at. It is a method that I would definitely need to study, but not at this particular time. I was looking for T-shirt construction the traditional sewing together.

Good information
I bought the kindle version which has a lot of good info. However, I like writing on my pages as I go or make notes so I ordered the paperback which will probably work better for me.
