These are great books for little ones who have just discovered that things can open and close! It's a four book set that are a vinyl like material with padding between the pages. They are bright and colorful to keep the baby's attention. While I purchased these when my daughter was 6 months old, one of the books has black and white patterns on the pages that would work great for newborn developing eyes. Another book has a mirror in it that is absolutely fascinating to my 6 month old. So far the handle book is her favorite, since it is very easy for her to hold and swing around. My personal favorite of the set, though, is the photo album one. I added pictures of her relatives that she doesn't get to see as regularly as others to keep her familiar with their faces.Another nice thing about there being four books? I can keep one in the diaper bag, one in the stroller organizer, one in her play area in the living room, and one up in her bedroom. Always a book with in reach for her to grab and turn the pages!

I bought this along time ago now, because it came with a book suitable for putting pictures in. We have family all over the country and in other countries so I wanted something baby safe that my son could look at.The other books were really nice too. The cloth book and fuzzy bits in it, and the other two plastic books were bright and colorful.I loved that the plastic books were drool resistant and the cloth book was easy to clean with hot soapy water- because babys are messy! The books are a good size, easy for little hands to hold and move.My son is now four years old and we still have the photo album book. his sister used the other three books, But now prefers paper and board books.

Get something else, really
We got this set for my (then) 8 month old. Months before a friend gave her one plastic book with pictures of several objects. It was a 99 cents store book. But it wasn't of cheap design or construction. So we thought that this would add more variety to her bath time library but we were wrong. When I got this I was so disappointed... there was only 2 things liked.PROS:- There's a photo album where you can fit 4 pictures. We use them for grandma and family.- The price was OK compared to other options here in Amazon.CONS:- Books only have 3 sheets (6 pages). As opposed to most other which have 4 sheets (8 pages).- "Illustrations" if they can be called that are very very simple. Not "baby simple", but more like "repeat the same faces and change some colors and put some bow or antenna" simple.- Colors are too bright. We've learned that babies are more comfortable with high black and white contrast when newborn, but later they like (and can see color) but explosive, contrasting colors overstimulate them.- Baby never gave these much attention! We later get some Sesame Street ones (gifts from granny) and she loves them.- One of the books is made of cloth and there's one banana that you can smell and touch. Oh my... the smell is so chemical that it doesn't even smell to artificial banana fragrance.I hope my review is helpful? is it?

Baby loves!
These are awesome for baby. Bright colored and (for the most) part easy to clean. They do have a strong plastic smell at first, but it faded out quickly. The book with the teething handle and the one with the yellow bug on the cover are the easiest to clean, rinse under running water under the sink, as they are fully water (and slobber) proof. The same could be said for the picture album except you will get water inside the picture pockets, that one I just surface clean. The fourth book is my least favorite and the reason I don't give this set 5 stars. Not really waterproof, it soaks up baby's drool (YUCK!) it can only be surface cleaned. I am guessing this is because of the scented packet inside one of the pages (its supposed to smell like bananas) and the small squeaker inside another. Overall a good purchase.

Nice, simple books
Nice, simple books. My 6 week old actually seems somewhat interested in them already. I think 4 books at this price was a good deal.

I hate the smell
My daughter has never even got the chance to touch these. They have a very bad smell to them. Not like plastic like a chemical, I've washed them and the smell does not go away so this was a waste of money. Do not Buy.

They're books? and that's about it.
I was looking for books for my 5 month old and these could be defined as books: they have pages, colorful pictures, words, and can take the abuse of a 5 month old. Which is about the bare minimum for what I was looking for.Even with target age in consideration, most of the books had little substance. The sensory book was neet but only spends one page on each sense: sight, smell, and touch. If there was a sound, I don't remember it. Sometimes it took me a bit to figure out what the page was refering too. Especially with the bannana smell. While it was one of the better books, it would have been a lot better if they put that much thought in creating a book for each sense. The Dotty and her friends book is what I would expect word wise, but it is a poorly planned mix of verbs that refer to sound, movement, and sight. Too much variety for five pages. I guess it's supose to be the friends' names, but I find no use in having words in a baby book unless I can connect them to something the baby can learn and it seems confusing to be refering to so many different things from one page to the next. The bug family book was good. It had a page per family member and is something a baby can learn from. And the photo album is nice. No words, but it can be used with the family book.Overall, it's just not worth the money.

Gift for a one-year old
I bought this as a gift for a friends daughter who just turned one. Per her parents, she loved the books, kept her busy while they were on a long road trip, and they were great for her teething-time (they are plastic). The books are very colorful, a great size for a small one (about 4x4" I would guess), and one even has a mirror in it. :)Hours of fun to be had. Hope this review helps!
