Review: I bought this for a friend of mine whose mom was diagnosed with Alzheimers a couple years ago and was last rated as moderately affected. My friend said this was a very informative book and has helped her with understanding what is going on with her mom. You can't go wrong with Mayo books to get information on all kinds of conditions. I also bought this book for myself because as I've aged, I know more and more people affected with this disease, and I trusted Mayo Clinic to help me understand this disease. I must admit I have not read it myself because I had already read a bunch of books/memoirs on Alzheimers, and I needed a break from the topic. Review: I purchased a Mayo Clinic book before dealing with another health matter, and find this one meets the same high standard i found with the previous purchase. I like the overall approach used to explain dementia; the causes and the effect it can have on the person experiencing it. You don't have to read each chapter outlining the causes, if you know the particular one you are dealing with, or may have to deal with as time progresses. Many other books deal with Alzheimer's Disease primarily, with only a fleeting mention of the other causes which can have a different effect. This book also explains the impact the disease can have on the caregiver, and it allows the caregiver to have a better understanding to help develop an empathy towards the person with dementia. Without such an appreciation of what the subject is going through, it can be very wearing on the person or persons acting as the caregiver.

Book was great resource to provide insight and take the mystery out of my fathers changing behavior. Explained what was going on with him and what to expect in the future. Very thankful I read this book. I've referred to it several times for explanations to new behaviors encountered.
