I'm not a fan of the novel which crosses into the supernatural world but this is King and Staubb after all. Not my first King and I'll look for more Staubb. The pace creates a tension that had me neglecting everything else for the first 450 pages, there was enough of the first Talisman book to fill me in and the characters are all finely described. The villains are horribly villainous and the goodies are all good. I thoroughly loved how the authors have drawn the peripheral characters. They are so convincing. The stereotypes, ie journalists, as well as breaking of stereotypes, the bikies, are superb. As an Australian some of the American references passed me by but I loved the literary references - particularly to Poe - but also Dickens and more contemporary works.

Good sequel but I preferred the first book, you should read book 1 before reading this book so you can understand how the 2 writers work together

Having loved the Talisman I was really excited to read the sequel and it didn't disappoint. The story grabs you and takes you on a wild ride. I can't wait to see what the finale of this series holds in store. I believe it will be written over the next two years.

Stephen King is brilliant and Peter Straub isn't bad either.Not as personally terrifying as some of their other works, but once started very hard to put down.
