I took to time to read the reviews and it gave me a very clear idea of what I would be getting. This is not a solid helmet, but rather it is stiff felt headgear that looks exactly like a cool pith helmet. Very comfortable to wear and yes, it is for costume/cosplay rather than military maneuvers. I think it's great - great price, great looking and great for steampunk cosplay. Excellent quality for a costume helmet, material makes it look like the real thing, handy adjustable inner headband adjusts to fit any head, fit my husbands big head perfectly, bought one last year and gave it to friend and bought another this year, makes for a great costume in tropical places as well as is cool.Decorative chin strap works as chin strap or above brim, folded material banding that is hard to see in picture really adds to authentic look, super fast delivery as well
