Royal Magic (The Elves of Lessa Book 2)

This one will make you cry! Beautifully written.
I've read the entire Timeless Fairytales series and books 1 to 3 of the Enchantress series, and I am now going to finish the Elves of Lessa series.I love all of Kitties novels, but of all that she has written so far, this is the only one that has moved me to tears.I love Fyn as a character and I identify with how much she doubts her goodness, so *SPOILERSthe scene with her family when she finally understands that she is loved for herself made me well up enough to blur the text of several following pages.Ben is a complex and ultimately vulnerable person and I liked seeing him slowly beginning to estrange himself less to everyone in his life, as she gave him a sense of self worth, (which his lack of was essentially the reason for his downgraded position in the Royal Court) and as he warmed to his new situation. As much as I wanted to see them getting thier HEA, I didn't want it to end, as I wanted to read more about Fyn and Ben. I hope that she will write more on these characters.I never leave book reviews on Amazon, so it must be a good read /I'm off to read the final volume which is preloaded on my phone so I don't have any waiting. You can read this as a stand alone, but you will enjoy it more if you read the previous volume first. And although it is targeted at the YA market, I am 52 with good literary skills, and I still enjoyed it, apart from a few editing mistakes that a good proof reader should have spotted . I always skip the racy part of novels, so I appreciate the fact that it is good clean fun. You know they are probably going to get it on, as there's a lot of passion flying around in the bedroom, but it is never directly written as so. Good for her, not using sex as a selling point. The real moral of the story is about Acceptance and Forgiveness, firstly to yourself and then the people around you. As with all the Lessa books, Cultural harmony is an ongoing theme and is done beautifully. I just wish humans were as open to each other as they are in the novels. It's a lovely little book if you want some light reading. The characters are engaging and witty and she tells a very good story.Give it a go, and you might be as surprised as I was when I read my first K. M. Shea!

Romance, action, emotion, it's all here and it's all amazing
“There is nothing inherently bad in having power. The bigger question is how one uses that power.”Fantasy romance marriage of convenience with mutual pining alert! The elves of Lessa and humans of Calnor are great friends... aside from the fact that most of them can't speak the same language.Meet Princess Gwendafyn, an elf of Lessa. She's trapped by tradition, terrified of spending the rest of her life pretending to be someone she isn't. Her way out: entering a marriage of convenience with a human. She'll gain control of her life and pave the way for a new future for humans and elves.'He might be an idiot, but he's my idiot.'Meet Prince Benjimir, exiled for attempting to ruin the first ever elf/human relationship he's a disgraced former Crown Prince of the human country of Calnor. In unrequited love with Gwendafyn's sister Benjimir also happens to be one of the few humans able to speak elvish.'Gwendafyn burned like the full moon and was filled with unbridled beauty and passion that called to him.'I never knew a villain turned love interest story would be so incredibly swoonworthy but this book knocked it out of the park. Gwendafyn has no illusions about her marriage being anything other than a deal with Benjimir for their own purposes, she expects nothing but to finally be her own person. Having always had to hide who she truly is, the immediate acceptance and support from Benjimir totally throws her as do the glimpses she gets of him behind his mask. *cue pining #1*Benjimir is unapologetically a morally grey character - and he's one of my favourite K.M. Shea heroes. The way he accepts Gwendafyn for who she is and encourages her *cries in hearts*. I absolutely adored the way he protected her and was so affectionate when he decided he wanted her *cue pining #2* (seriously the confusion his affection caused Gwendafyn - STUNNING).'You are entirely your own person. And while you might torture yourself over your differences and allow others to criticize them, the truth is they are something you should rejoice in if you so choose.'These books are so sweet and I love all the antics the language barrier causes. There was also an amazing fantasy plotline in this book that was just flawless. Gwendafyn had a badass female awakening and I challenge you not to internally squeal.'It was not the strike of a storm, but the awakening, the rekindling of a magic not seen on the continent in centuries.'This whole book = perfection. Romance, action, emotion, it's all here and it's all amazing.

Great sequel!
Benji's character, backstory and behaviour is explored and developed really well here. I absolutely adored the characters and the twists and turns. I love how fresh and different and yet how connected the two books are. One really builds on the other. So, while you can enjoy each seperately I really do recommend reading these two in order, if for no other reason as to enjoy every detail.I felt slightly let down by two plot developments which weren't explored and explained as well as could be, but it didn't detract from the overall story and the characters blossomed beautifully.I hope I get to visit again. I'd love to 'see' more of Lessa as well.

Royal majic
Shea's the elvesof less a series so far has been a fun and delightful read. The characters and imaginative setting are engaging and really fun. V different from the longer series of books , these books -so for I've read 2 of 3- are equally enjoyable.

Magic
I thoroughly enjoyed both Elves of Lessa novels, they made me feel happy, they made me smile and laugh. Two extremely feel good books, I love a bit of romance and a happy ending. Even the lack of dragons didn't spoil it for me, elves and humans together was special. Magic

favorite elf book ever
This is still one of my favorite K.M. Shea books. I rarely ever leave reviews, but as this is a fairly consistent reread when I’m looking for something entertaining but relaxing, so I decided to tell whoever is interested that it’s a fantastic book. The whole series so far is brilliant, but this one is my favorite. Really, it’s hard to go wrong with her books. I love the dialogue. She nails sassy and fun without ever being rude or crude. I love having clean romance with really fun characters and a plot that sucks me in without ever having to worry about junk showing up later in the book or series. Her books are always on my reread list because they’re so well written.

Beautiful romance
Ms Shea simply has a knack. Funny thing is I stumbled into her stories for the fantasy and even though I'm not a fan of romance, she just makes it work brilliantly. Highly recommended.
