We never measured for liquid quart capacity as it is primarily used for greensalad serving; it can serve as many as ten with salad left over..

Thank you for your inquiry. This can absolutely be used for allowing bread to rise in. We don't recommend using a pastry cutter or other sharp implement directly in the bowl as this could damage it. I've had great luck recently with using a cheese grater to grate frozen butter into my biscuit dough - this way I don't have to do any cutting in the bowl and the pieces of butter are the right size and stay cold a bit longer. The flat bottom is approx 8 1/2 ins. In diameter.

Q: Can this bowl be used for chopping without ruining it?

Just received this bowl and decided to try it for chopping. It did not do well and is very scratched up after one use. And buyer beware, price sticker on the bottom is $14.99. Amazon selling for $28.
