I purchased this California Air compressor based on previous experience with the same brand compressor that a friend has had for nearly 8 years. He has had zero issues with his. He drains his every couple of days and blows out the intake filter periodically. That's it. We are building our own house and I'm about to start installing our tongue & groove walls and trim. This compressor is perfect for our needs as it is very quiet and light weight. Don't let it's size fool you as it's a beast and keeps up with air demand perfectly. Just a couple of tips: I mounted my compressor to a small, rolling dolly to easily maneuver from room to room. At the end of each, I hold my air tool upside-down and put a couple drops of 3 In-One oil in the inlet connector and cycle the tool a couple of times to get the oil inside the tool. Doing so helps to eliminate a lot of jams and too, it prolongs the life of the tool. This compressor has been one of my best purchases and I cannot say enough good things about. If you're on the fence about purchasing it, I would say go for it. You will not regret it.

Wow just wow. If you have ever had a run of the mill air compressor and are tired of the loud and obnoxious sound that it produces then this is the best thing you'll ever buy. I have had a 30 gallon oil-less 2.6hp craftsman and it was loud as could be, in the 95 to100db range and if you used it for any extended amount of time it was unbearable in the garage. I got a 5hp 80 gal oiled and it was better but it was still loud and the sound was much lower toned so it was more tolerable. But when i needed a smaller one and stated doing research and California Air Tools kept popping up as the one to go with due to its quietness compared to all the others. I have a friend with a porter cable 6gal for $99 and it seems to be the one that everyone buys, it is loud @85-90db but face it most compressors are and that is what is to be expected. I almost pulled the trigger until i saw this one as an amazon open box for $120 and thought id give it a try. I will tell you that i would happily pay the full price of $200 if i would have been able to hear it run before. It is as quiet as they say. You can have a conversation right next to it while talking at a normal level. The build quality is far above most compressors i the sub $300 category.

Very quiet!

First off, this thing is surprisingly quiet. Everything works great and practically no leakage. After 1 week at full pressure, there was only 1.5lb of pressure loss. There was a small amount of damage which I am not concerned about. You can run this in the house and not disturb anyone. I would recommend an auxiliary air tank though. I used the tank from the dead 20 gallon compressor this unit is replacing. Less than $8 in parts and it's a fully functional tank. I spoke with California Air Tools and they told me that this is a 70/30 motor and that I shouldn't run the compressor for more than an hour at a time so the 4 minutes it takes to fill the total 24.6 gallons doesn't worry me. Sure, it takes a little longer to get 20 gallons of air, but my ears aren't bleeding while the compressor is running.
