Upland Stories

Robbie Fulks's voice is full of honest to goodness talent. His songwriting and singing are so perfect, his compositions so down to earth, they just left me with a feeling of supreme contentment. These are songs for a peaceful day, a time away from time :-). My favorites here are - Baby Rocked Her Dolly, Never Come Home, Needed, A Miracle, Katy Kay and Sarah Jane. These are songs with their heart in the right place :-) :-) :-)

Robbie Fulks has been working the Americana circuit before many people knew there was an Americana circuit. This is a good album for his fans and a good album to get to know him if you are new to his music.

I have friends who rave about Robbie Fulks. I had seen him perform once, had a good time but was not blown away. This changed all of that. Upland Stories is William Faulkner of Larry Brown, (take you pick of favorite southern gothic authors,) set to music. When I first got this CD I was listening to it two or three times a day. I was so taken with it that nearly three years later I've bought it on vinyl.

I just was introduced to Robbie from a radio interview. This guy is amazing. Now I want to pick up all his albums.

Upland Stories is a natural - and a very strong - follow up to Gone Away Backward. Fare Thee Well, Carolina Gals is amazing.

A dark, sparse and reflective album by Fulks. A bit of a departure from his earlier work. This manages to hit you where you live!

Robbie Fulks is a national treasure. His latest album continues his rootsy country/Americana style.
