Does not hold the rated volume!
These are good crucibles, but be warned, they do not hold the rated volume. I have two of the sizes, I have the No.3 and the No.5s. The No.3 crucible is rated at 400 mL volume, but its actual volume is only about 260 mL. The No.5s is rated at 775 mL, and I measured it in at about 500 mL. They are about 35% short of what their rated volume is, so just be warned, if you need a specific volume, multiply the rated volume by 0.65, and that will give you a close estimate of what the actual volume is. Other than that, they last a decent amount of time, I don’t cast that often, maybe three or four times a month, but they lasted me just over two years.

Awesome
The media could not be loaded. These crucibles work great, better than great, closer to jaw dropping astonishing. Like seeing a pig fly. No cracking, no residue sticks and pours smoothly. Very easy to clean if at sll necessary(so far not at all), I even dumped a bunch of borax and random river gravel just to really test one. It all popped out after it cooled few minutes. I've had borax eat a few crusibles. Amazing product, keep up the great work. 10 out of 20 💯% recommended. Oh I don't recommend the borax and gravel thing I did incase one or more stones explode from the rise in temperature.

Ceramic, graphite Crucible
The cucible that came with my Is smelting kit is made out of the basic cheaper materials. That's why when I ordered a new crucible i made sure It had ceramic in the title. When I got it home and opened it up i could Immediately and definitely tell the difference between the two. Between my old one in this new one. My old one was rough pourous and during a cleaning i, without pushing too hard, accidentally poked a hole in the bottom of it. This new one is super smooth on the inside outside and is thick enough to endure normal wear a possibly cleaning without falling apart! I do believe "ceramic" beingIncluded in the makeup of the crucible is what will make it endure in last while I smelt.

They ship the Wrong Size
The Pro:The crucible looks solidly made, and has no chips or cracks. It would probably function well. The Con: I ordered a #8 crucible a while back and when I opened it (outside the return window), it wasn't a #8 crucible. I went to the seller's listing and checked the dimensions for their #8 crucible and they matched my existing #8, so I assumed that I had accidentally ordered the wrong one. I ordered another, double checked the dimensions of the #8, made sure that I ordered a #8, double checked it in my cart, double checked it in checkout, and ordered it. Received it today, opened it up and it was the wrong size again. I took it measured it, compared it to the previous one, they matched. Arrgh! I went to the seller's page again and checked the dimensions of the larger crucibles and found a match .... a #12 crucible! I wondered how they could make the same mistake again, so checked the plain cardboard box all over, and I found it. A small white sticker that was labeled CANALHOUT #8. So the boxes in their store room are mislabeled which is why they sent me the same crucible again. I am returning it for a refund since an exchange will only result in getting yet another crucible of the same size.5 Stars for the crucible, which appeared to be good quality, minus 2 stars for the seller's stocking problem. My guess is that the seller receives crucible shipments from the manufacturer, and trusts that the boxes are properly labeled, I know I did when I ordered it. Because they don't seem to know the problem exists, ordering another is crazy. I ordered the first over a month ago, and still had the same thing happen with my second order. If you order a crucible, when you receive it, immediately check to verify you were shipped the right size. That will require opening and visually verifying the dimensions. The problem is that there is no way to know which crucibles are mislabeled and therefore no way to know what to order. The #8 crucibles are, in my opinion, mislabeled on the part of the manufacturer and not the seller's fault. It is possible that only the #8 crucibles are mislabeled. They look like quality crucibles, I just can't take the chance that the box labeled #8 crucible, is actually a #8.
