Works on mid-2012 Mac Pro tower with both Yosemite and El Capitan releases of OSX
This card plugged right into my mid-2012 Mac Pro tower with no issues and has been working without issue on both Yosemite and El Capitan releases of OSX. I needed this to expand the number of USB ports on my Mac since multiple USB hubs were causing it to shut down. I have not tried any pure USB 3.0 devices with it, but it has handled all the USB 2.0 devices I have connected. I did not need any additional drivers or software to get it working. Wanted to post this review for those that might be concerned after finding several other USB 3.0 cards which were not compatible with later releases of OSX. It is currently supporting a 7 port USB 2.0 powered hub with a 6x2 Tascam audio interface plus an 8 channel USB control surface, both interfacing with ProTools and Studio One Artist software. No issues with either using the card. I have not installed Sierra yet since audio software tends to drag behind OSX releases, so I can't offer an opinion on that release. If I get ambitious enough to jump on Sierra, I will update this review.

I bought this USB 3.0 card for my 2010 Mac Pro. It is super fast. I ran a benchmark with a new Transcend 500 GB SSD and it clocked at 367 MB/s read and 360 MB/s write. I used the Blackmagic Disk Speed Test. I got these results with the card in PCIe slot #2. If it is in slot 3 or 4, the speed drops down a little. I'm running El Capitan and I'm using a Startech.com docking station for the SSD.

This card is not a true USB 3. 0 ...
This card is not a true USB 3.0 and shows up as 480 mbs USB 2.0 in the system information. Don't let the blue connectors fool you. It fails with software looking for true USB 3.0 devices (i.e. the El Gato HD 60 S). Spend the extra money on a decent card. Using in Mac Pro 4,1.
