City Maps: A coloring book for adults

Good
Nice weight and printed on one side, which was great. I was disappointed that the maps weren't labeled and were missing some of the intricate details that make coloring maps so much fun. A nice addition to my collection but probably not one I will pull out very often.

No full sized maps, all of them are cut off and incomplete. Wanted to use them for gaming, but can't. Will find another purpose for them.

As a geography nerd (and my profession) I love this product
As a geography nerd (and my profession) I love this product. I have a couple of copies I've given to friends and family and they all love it. I like the layout and the ability to color well-known, and not so well-known locations. As I color I daydream of planning a trip to some of these locations. Great author (check out her other works!) and a very cool fun book for young and old map lovers!Updated 5/11: After seeing some of the low and obscure reviews, I want to clarify one thing: This is a coloring book. It says it in the title! If you chose to review, be constructive as this is someone's livelihood and reviews are important to the success.

This is not my favorite coloring book
This is not my favorite coloring book. I thought it would be super cool because I love maps. However, there are no labels on the maps to help orient one's self in the city. I wish there were labels. The front has the key of which city you are coloring. However the maps themselves are super basic.

Excellent maps, and a lot of fun!
Gretchen Peterson, the highly regarded cartographic expert and author of several books including Cartographer's Toolkit: Colors, Typography, Patterns and QGIS Map Design , puts the cartography in your hands in her latest book. Taking a break from writing in-depth cartography advice and standards-setting texts, she reduces maps of cities around the world to simple black outlines for you to fill in. Re-imagine London's Kew Gardens as a rainbow palace. Make the Great Pyramids in Cairo a lush tropical paradise. The only limit to your creativity is the colors in your arsenal. With 44 maps featuring famous locations all across the world, you'll have plenty of places to express your creativity.

I did not conclude that I could use it to teach how cities are laid out. Unfortunately the features are too generic to be definitively categorized. It is absent some detail in order to make a healthy Geographic analysis. It sure will kill some time when you want to color though laughing out loud

Combining two great things about childhood: Looking at maps, and coloring
Ever dream of a trip to Paris, or Italy, or some far-off exotic destination? Ever spent hours pouring over maps, imagining what it would be like to be there? Well, not only does this book let you do that, it also lets you set the tone for those maps with your own colors.Gretchen Peterson shows once again why she's an expert at making maps not only useful, but look good, too. It's only fitting that the woman who publishes sought-after textbooks on cartography would also make a map coloring book for adults.

Great for D&D
I really like collecting material for a D&D campaign I'm sure I'll run someday in the future. These maps are crisp, but I do wish that they looked a little more hand-drawn.There are cities that are meticulously planned into perfect rectangles, some that conform to a waterfront, and still others melding a medieval past into practical pathways. Super inspiring.

A lovely little colouring book based on extracts from OpenStreetMap.
A lovely little colouring book, as also featured as a quiz on the Guardian Cities section!. The maps are extracts of OpenStreetMap data, skill and obvious care has been taken to choose interesting geographic patterns to colour in. I got this for my family who love it. Don't take too much notice of the couple of negative reviews on the Amazon.com site, let's be clear here: this is a colouring book! Not some great cartographic masterpiece with millimetre precision mapping (unless of course, you are really good at colouring between the lines!), if you like maps and colouring-in then this is more than likely for you.
