I have been a fan of the Transformers franchise since I was a kid and had a bunch of the 1st generation Hasbro figures. I recently wanted to start collecting the figures again, and discovered the masterpiece line of figures. They are exactly what I wanted the figures to be when I was a kid! This version of Starscream by Takara is awesome. It is a highly detailed figure both in vehicle mode and robot mode. Plus it comes with the coronation accessories (crown, cape, shoulder armor). The transformation of the figure between robot and vehicle is much more complicated than the G1 toys; as is to be expected from a model that is more accurately detailed. There are lot of joins and articulating parts required to get the more realistic look. However, the figure is not meant for rough and tumble play but collecting. If you are a collector I would highly recommend this figure it is a great depiction of Starscream moments before his end. The only thing I would have wanted on this figure is 4 separately articulating fingers for the hands (currently the last 3 fingers are molded together, but articulate), a stand and missile pods. I am assuming the stand and missile pods are a trade off for the coronation accessories. Plus the stand and missiles can be gotten piece meal on ebay or other sites.

This is a great looking figure. However with in two times of transforming him the pin that holds the right chest piece in place broke so now I have to figure out how to fix that or he will be no transfomable anymore.

This MP-11 Takara Starscream is an amazing collectible. I recently bought this to display out of the box, and this figure is the single best Starscream collectible out there, especially with its Coronation set. I would recommend this to anyone that is a Transformers fan, both old and new.

Yeah, so I am a Takara/masterpiece collector, and I spent several hours 90% convinced that I had received a knock-off. Now I am 98% sure that it is legit. I have a good sized collection of Takara masterpiece transformers even the three coneheads made from the MP-11 mold, and starscream just straight up feels cheap in comparison. What had me worried was the thin/soft feel of the plastic, several loose joints, gaps in jet mode, and a fair amount of swirls in the grey bits. Oddly enough the joints on mine are tight in all the places that my others are loose, and loose where the others are tight. (I.E. the body does not shake apart at all, and the chest does not lift while manipulating the arms) From what I have found a good way to spot a KO in person on this thing is to lift up the air break on his back, and if the piston-rod that holds it up is diecast, you are good.
