Q: Does this skull sink in water?

Classic,Yes, it will stay submerged.

Q: What is the smallest size tank this could fit in?

Mine fits well in a 10 gallon long tank. I have plenty of room for a water dish,foliage etc. I'm not sure if I would put it in a smaller tank.

Q: Would this be suitable for an American Toad and are there any sharp edges or points from the casting?

I would assume it to be safe for a toad i use this in my tarantulas enclosure. There were a few sharp edges from the casting but i just used a nail file to flatten them out took less than 5 minutes to do

Q: Is the bottom of it hollow? Or solid?

It's solid glass on the bottom.
