will the warranty be honored should something happen?

My warranty says only if it was purchased from an authorized seller. So if the seller on amazon isn't authorized then no it will not be honored.

It does come with a detachable heat pad.This is a wonderful product. Works far better than I expected. Love it!

what is the real difference in this flat iron and the one that is $198? If you curl more than straighten with the flat iron is this one better?

I returned this one. It was quite junky compared to the first one I purchased 4 years prior. I don't recommend this item.
