Perfect!
How many of us can claim not being guilty of lying in bed with a notebook computer on our stomach until what had seemed light and comfortable just a few minutes prior suddenly begins to feel like a heavy, hot rock? Besides the pain in the gut, the injury inflicted upon your computer is, according to the experts, guaranteed to send the machine into panic mode not to mention invite costly repairs. Putting a pillow or lap desk between you and the computer alleviates the pressure--but not for long. With the foregoing considerations in mind (along with some derogatory, caricaturing comments from family members as well as a lecture from a computer repair person), I began the search on Amazon for an alternative. Fortunately, I came upon this "My Place" table, which frankly leaves nothing to be desired (except for the unreadable but gratuitous sheet of instructions). It's a unibody design, made of light, solid plastic (with naturally "textured" surfaces), that folds and unfolds in an instant. The computer base elevates to 10 different levels, and the bottom lip holds your machine securely in place regardless of the archness of the angle. Even without the unexpected "bonuses"--a gooseneck directional bright light (making up for the backlit keyboard I've always wanted) and a roomy, level area for using a mouse--this item would be welcome at the price.Fortunately, even I could figure out how to use this device without reference to the instructions--though it wasn't until I looked at the picture on the box cover that I realized the legs are adjustable to two heights (another bonus). The only cause for pause is postage costs, since the item isn't sold through Amazon Prime, and I see that rates have doubled in just the past week. But what's to prevent them from doing the same by this time next week?

Works well.
This lap desk works well with my 15 inch computer, as well as with books to read. The light is nice. I would have liked a cup holder (I actually glued one on myself). Sure, if you raise the laptop/book half, it's a tad wobbly... and sure, I would prefer this in wood, not plastic. But, for the price, it works well. I've used it for hours on the couch with a computer, and hours in bed with books and writing on it.Happy with purchase. If you expect the moon, you might not like it... for under 30 bucks, it's a great lap desk that's sturdy enough and functional enough to meet my needs. Arrived quickly.

Very Flimsy
I purchased this item because of it's good overall reviews and the price was decent. When I took it out of the box I noticed that the whole thing is made out of plastic. In giving it the benefit of the doubt, I extended the legs and tilted the laptop base (which only has a one-sided hinge, made out of plastic, and really flimsy). I placed my 16.5" laptop on the tray and it slid right off onto the bed (thank God). I tried it again making sure I had the laptop base behind the "ledge" so it would stay. Evidently, the "ledge" wasn't tall enough, because my computer slid off again. Pretty frustrated by now, I placed a microfiber towel underneath so it would keep the computer from sliding (that helped). When I set up my mouse, and being right handed, it worked out great because there is only one choice in mouse placement...on the right side...FAIL. To make a long story short, I decided to return it and look for another, more sturdy tray, and I'm willing to pay an extra 10-20 bucks to get a better one.

Not bad, but could use some improvements. Improvise!
I just received MyPlace Personal Laptop/Multi-Function Workstation in the mail today and, after recalling some negative reviews, I immediately set out to check them out.Out of the box nothing appears missing or broken - so far so good. Next I sat on my bed, which is where I'll be using it most of the time, and extended the double position "adjustable" fold out legs at their first setting. At this setting the table seems stable enough and clears my lap at about 1.5". If I were sitting on a soft sofa it would be sitting on my lap. The table is divided into two sections: one section that is for the laptop (which is adjustable to almost a 90 degree angle) and the other section is for the mouse (also adjustable). An adjustable battery powered (batteries not included) LED lamp is located on the left side of the table.I set my laptop on it and attempted to angle the table but found this difficult due to the size of my laptop (I have a 15.5" Presario. So, I set my laptop aside and angled the laptop portion of the table to about a thirty degree angle. I sat my laptop back on it and it immediately slid off into my lap; so, I reset to table to it's lowest angled setting (about ten degrees) and set my laptop back on it. The angled platform gave some and leaned to the left but it held the laptop. It could use an adjustable bracket for both sides of the laptop portion of the table. I improvised by setting a book under the two left legs and this corrected the lean. Or you could place something, that will fit, between the left corner of the angled platform and the body of the table. This way you won't need a book. Or you could just use it in it's flat position. I'm now using an external keyboard and a Logitech track ball with my VIZIO LCD TV as a monitor with my legs crossed and the table in-front of me. For this evaluation, however, I just used the laptop. To test the second setting for the legs I set the laptop aside and unfolded the extensions. This is where the table becomes much less stable. If you insure that the legs are spread out as far as they will go this will help alleviate the stability problem somewhat. The extended legs are a bit high for me so I folded the extenders back. You can't cross your legs with the table on your lap. I crossed my legs and set the table in-front of me (on my bed;not on the couch) and am able to use the computer just fine. For the price, I'm satisfied with the table even given it's shortcomings. With a little improvising, this table will do. To expect more would cost more.
