Strips must be softened in direct sunlight for at least an hour in warm weather so that the material is pliable to wrap a pipe. The foil tape may tear and come off so you should plan on wrapping finished product with new aluminum tape. Perfect for cast iron sewer line where it comes out of a fire-rated sheetrock wall or ceiling in a parking garage. Then use fire rated caulking.

The product I received had to have been old stock as when I tried wrap it around the pipes it would either snap or the exterior foil would “pop off” the full piece. I tried placing them in the sun and even tried a heat gun, neither worked, the material had exceeded its shelf life. And I’m not talking super tight radius, it was for 2”, 3”, and 4” pipe that I was trying to use it on. Needless to say it all ended up in the trash and I was able to purchase “new” material from a sorta local fire sprinkler company. So no I would not recommend to a friend, or anyone for that matter.
