StrongArm 4048 Jeep Grand Cherokee Hood Lift Support, Pack of 1,black and chrome

I purchased two (1 packs) of these arms for my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Limited), and they fit great.It took a little while to figure out how to get the retaining clip off of the original strut, but once the technique was down it was really easy to get the other three connections off.When installing the new strut, its a lot easier if you clip on the bottom end first and then the top, as that way you know it's oriented correctly; if you clip on the top first, its possible you'll need to unclip it so that you can position the lower clip correctly.With just the first strut in place, the tension was sufficient to support the hood easily. We still semi-supported the hood (similar to a weight lifter spotter) for safety as the second strut was installed.After slightly opening the hood, about a foot open, the struts will lift the hood the rest of the way up.The hood closes fairly easily, but needs to be slightly slammed for the last six inches or so, to have it properly close.There were a few YouTube videos on the replacement technique, which prior to getting the first strut done were very helpful. Once you do the first, any number of subsequent struts is going to be fairly easy to do.I'll buy from StrongArm in the future, when the struts for my liftgate go, as they need more than a little assistance getting the hatch up (but can currently hold it up fine).

Good, strong hood lift. When I ordered this replacement hood lift I expected that I would receive a pair of them. This particular lift is sold individually. I suppose that like most people I assumed I would need to replace both, but after installing only the one on my Jeep Grand Cherokee to test it, it worked just fine to hold the hood up. I can definitely recommend it.

Fitted perfectly on our Jeep Grand Cherokee 2004.

Bought 2 of these to replace the originals on my 02 Grand Cherokee. Fit perfectly, easy to install, and best of all I don't have to use vice grips to hold up my hood like I had to with the old support rods.
