The gripping thriller of the year...
...pretty poor year for thrillers. Otherwise normal parents plot how to kill women between doing the school run and maintaining their middle class lifestyle. Why're they doing such a heinous thing, going round killing women, like that? P30 and I no longer cared and couldn't be bothered to crack on and find out. For all I know they might still be out there up to all sorts of nefarious activities. Fair play to them.

Awful unconvincing characters. Dreadful serial killer novel
After a brilliant opening, this novel fades into an unconvincing serial killer novel. There is little suspense and a rather sick subject matter that goes too far in its efforts to shock. The actions of the "Lovely Wife" and why she was with the equally awful narrator husband fail to be credible and the subplot of their two children feels contrived. Gone Girl is miles better than this.

Clever thriller
I really enjoyed this! It's a really well written thriller with enough twists that if you guess some, you won't guess the others! There's also some subtle themes about marriage, parenting and gender threaded through the book. A step up from most domestic thrillers. On a par with Gone Girl for me.

A fantastic debut!
A fantastic debut exploring the intricacies of psychopathy within the male and female mind and how this plays out between two seemingly normal parents who appear to kill for kicks. The characters relationship reminded me of the dynamics between the protagonists in The Santa Clarita Diet combined with Natural Born Killers. This is a serial killing novel that deserves five stars and a film based on it. I loved it!

Mediocre
I was really looking forward to reading this - initially it started off good and was quite gripping but towards the middle I started to lose interest and felt it was a bit slow and predictable.I’ve finished the book but can’t say it lived up to the ‘hype’
