This is a very high quality leather portfolio that oozes quality and reeks of leather. The disgustingly opulent smell of a leather item. It's wonderful. This is the kind of item that looks perfect at our upper management meetings, yet provides the functionality required to participate at that meeting. It is smooth and firm to the touch and feels as great as it looks. I'm especially fond of the relief stitching as it provides an excellent counterpoint to the black leather and serves to draw out its overall luxury look. It's especially attractive in that it's really very inexpensive - this will last you some years, so long as you're not abusing it, and it looks like it costs much more than it does. This portfolio isn't as extensive as some of the "padfolios" you can buy, which is exactly why I selected it. Padfolios serve their purpose, essentially acting as trapper keepers for adults, and I do use them regularly for projects that require a lot material be located in one area and be easily accessible. But I don't always need to carry 5 folders and notebooks and a tablet and 10 pens all at once. This allows me to have a writing pad, a nice pen, and a couple of pocket folders (the second pocket is behind the notepad) - exactly what I'd need at a non project oriented meeting at work, or a business meeting with clients. I think it speaks to a high degree of professionalism without being ostentatious; while it's obviously a very nice, quality item, it is clearly not something that someone would spend hundreds of dollars on. I've been asked about it by both colleagues and clients, as the former like the idea of something not quite as cumbersome as a padfolio and many of the latter have never seen something like it. If you've a need for an item like this, you'll already know it and I don't have to sell you on the why of it. I can sincerely recommend that you keep this item in your consideration because it really is very nice. I've been nothing short of pleased with it, and I will definitely buy another when it is warranted.

This is the perfect thing to go into an interview or meeting with--holds pen and important documents, business cards and pad of paper. Keeps you organized and professional while giving you a sturdy writing surface even if you are standing at the back of the room. Slim and lightweight. Made of quality leather with fine stitching. I work in a place where I'm constantly being called into meetings. While in meetings, I need my laptop (so I can get actual work done while I'm sitting there). I slip my laptop into this padfolio, and troop off to my endless meetings. Once seated, I open my folio, open my laptop, pop out my pen from the pen holder, and arrange things so I can use my laptop and take notes on the pad inside the folio. That setup works very well for me. I bought this particular padfolio, because I needed a new one. My first one was one of the synthetic leather folios--and it fell apart (the spine split) after about 2 years. I chose this "Contrast Stitching" model, because it's made of bonded leather--a step up from the weaker, synthetic material. It's simple--there's not a dizzying amout of pockets, and hidey holes inside it--it's straight forward, and basic. It gets the job done. The only downside isn't really the fault of the padfolio--but my laptop sticks out from around the edges while I'm packing it around. Again--not faulting the padfolio. My laptop is a 15" MacBook Pro. I suppose if I had a 13" model, it'd fit perfectly. In any event, I'm probably not using the padfolio the way it was designed--what with packing around my laptop and such--so I really can't complain. If you need a durable, quality padfolio that won't overwhelm you with a crazy amount of pockets and "features", then go with this one. It looks nice, and does its job well.
