It works great. Nothing is malfunctioning. The sides do not get burnt. Easy to empty and clean. I have had it for a couple months and the light is still working. Sleek design too. I bought this for my home to help eliminate odor and it does just that. The open slot in the back is small so not a lot of extinguishing smoke escapes. Update December 2021: This is the second time buying this product. My first ashtray is still functioning perfectly! I bought a second one for my car. I bought it in all black this time (the first time I purchased the black and gray). It is still a sleek design. Everything is functioning. However, on the first ashtray, this next statement will be the third update on this feature: the light did finally stop working, but truthfully I’m not worried about the light not working. If you are expecting a very long life span for ashtray lights, that is something I have never had happen on any ashtrays I have owned. The lights just aren’t meant to last forever. :) So I would not let this downfall sway your buying decision.

After a few months of use the light in the ash tray is not as bright as it used to be. It was great at first but as time has gone by I feel the battery life hasn't lived to its expectations. Overall, it is a good product and contains the smell and is sturdy when in the car.

Works exactly as described. The light is a little distracting/intrusive, but helpful. If you don't like it, it's easy to cover with electrical tape. No one will know the difference. No scent escapes it and it's easy to clean.

I’ve used this thing a lot since my purchase and the pivot point still keeps the lid in place just fine. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that the rubber circle on the bottom for grip doesn’t really protrude beyond the plastic so it cant do much to prevent the thing from sliding around Also I’d like to be able to switch off that blue light, it has been convenient at times like if I’m driving at night but when I’m actually using it for cigarettes I like to leave the lid open, and the blue led can be distracting

lid does not close, and it is most definitely NOT odor resistant.
