Baume & Mercier - poor customer service
I purchased my first Baume & Mercier watch in June last year (2010) from Time2 in Westfield. I love my watch and couldn't be happier. I was obvioulsy not expecting the loops (both) that hold the strap in place to wear away and break in just over a year.I took my watch back to Time2 a few weeks ago and I have to say the customer service that I received from their staff, in particular Peter was fantastic and could not be faulted. I wrote a letter to B&M and this letter was also sent to Baume & Mercier with my watch. Both Peter and I were expecting that Baume & Mercier would replace my strap at no cost to me, (at least as a good will gesture). This is what a customer who has spent in excess of £2,000 would expect, correct?I have just heard back from Peter - the long and the short of the story is B&M don't want to know anything about the experience of their customer post purchase. Their stance is plain and simple - advising me that it is normal wear and tear and basically my own bad luck. I would have expected more from a luxury Swiss watch manufacturer, especially at a time when exceeding your customer expectations is so very very important. I was actually again in the market for a new watch and was considering a Bell & Ross, as well as another B&M. I think it's fair to say that I will not be purchasing another B&M watch ever again. If you are looking to purchase a luxury watch, I would most certainly recommend Time2 in Westfield - they most certainly know how to look after their customers. If you are looking for a great watch, Baume & Mercier do make lovely time pieces, but please note that if you expect a level of customer service after your purchase that matches what you have spent on a watch, I would advise definitely not choosing Baume & Mercier.Sean (West London)

Solid Watch That Won't Disappoint
Had mine since 2003 with the silver dial. Great watch. The brushed strap has held up really well, not getting shiny or scratched Ng easily etc. The whole case being brushed really saves from the odd ding etc. I have worn this watch a lot over the years. Still looks great.

Great watch
I’ve had this watch since 2008 and love it. I’ve had no problems with it. I keep up with normal maintenance and cleaning just like any other self winding watch.

Great Timepiece
This is a very hefty watch. The band has large links which are brushed in the middle and polished on the outer edges. The band has screws that connect the links, not pins which is nice. It has been keeping great time and has an immaculate fit and finish. The crystal is a domed anti-reflective sapphire. This is a truly luxurious watch to own.
