Recommend: - Clean your windows. Not just wash and go. Seriously clean them. Run a safety razor over the glass to get any paint or junk bits stuck on it. Use newspaper or similar for the last pass with window cleaner to get any lint off too. Priming the surface is just as important as any other step, if not more. - Fill a spray bottle with clean water. A tiny bit of Dawn can help but I just used water. Spray the window and film once you have the backing off. The place on window. - You do not have a lot of time to work with this once you start the squeegee process so don't dilly dally. Get it done promptly. Nice quick, smooth movements. - Start at the center and do a + sign movement to get to edges then an X sign movement to get corners. Then just start back in the middle and smooth out sections and/or bubbles to even it out. - Air bubbles happen. Lift it up from the edge and smooth it out some more. Small bubbles will either go away in a couple of days or run a hair dryer on low heat over it for a minute or so. - When you're sure you have it where you want take a razor and ruler and trim it. About 1/8" edge of glass showing since this stuff needs room to expand in heat. Good: - Got a large roll at a really good price. The big name version at the local hardware store would have cost twice as much. I see little difference between them in quality. I'd highly recommend. - Easy to cut and move around on the window during install. Windows 1 person can do. For a door 2 would be needed. - Cuts down the heat in the room well while still being able to see clearly out. Silver/Black is what I used. - Looks like silver/chrome from outside during the day, but not obnoxious. Bad: - The squeegee that comes with it is not what you want to use. I used one for installing vinyl on cars. That is a 2-sided that has a hard side and soft side with a velour cover. This allows more pressure only when needed to help with creases and working the peice out to edges. - Creases can be created easily if you try and force it on. This has a metal substrate and that means creases if you get rough with it when it wants to fold. Those creases might not come out after. This is a common problem. - Peeling the backing off can be a pain. Use some masking tape on each peice in 1 corner to get it loose and go really easy removing it evenly from end to end. A second person could be helpful here. - This isn't really bad but just remember that at night or overcast day people can see in your house better than you can see out. It's a complete opposite effect of bright outside day. All the metal ones do this.

This frosted static cling window film is a great upgrade for both privacy and style. The material feels durable yet flexible and the overall quality is better than expected for the price. The frosted color adds a clean and modern beauty to the window while completely blocking visibility. It’s exactly what I wanted. The feel is smooth and the lightweight design makes it very easy to handle and position. Installation was quick thanks to the static cling– no adhesive needed. It went on without hassle and stays firmly in place on the window. It is easy to trim for a perfect fit. It filters light nicely and the durability has been solid. It hasn’t shifted or bubbled. Overall, it offers excellent value for the money. It’s practical, attractive and is a great solution for privacy.

I clicked "place order" before reading the reviews :( This isn't a terrible product. I like that it is available in 29.5" width and it went up and stayed on the window so far. The 1-star reviews that say it is thicker than other films, and dents easily--true. My main disappointment, it is advertised as having a "mirror effect". It is more like the dull side of the aluminum foil. I had a chance to try Gila brand film on one window. It is thinner, with a much more mirror-like effect and looks nicer, easier to work with, too. It is more expensive. This was my first window film experience. I learned, I'd rather have the nicer mirror effect. I also think the Gila is better for privacy because it actually reflects the image instead of just darkening the view. From outside, when I get close to my window, in daylight, I can still see in. So if your budget is tight, this is a good value. If you need better privacy and a nicer mirror appearance, spend a little more.

We installed this on the door leading to our patio, and it worked exactly as we hoped. The installation was fairly easy, and once it was in place, it provided a good level of privacy. The adhesive is resistant and does not come off easily, it comes with 1 tool for installation that helps a lot and is enough. It is easy to cut and if necessary join with other adhesives, being compatible with any size of glass. What I particularly like is that people outside can’t easily see through it, while we still get natural light coming through. That makes a big difference compared with completely covering the glass with curtains or blinds. It also looks clean and neat once installed. For a glass door or window where you want more privacy without completely blocking the light, this has worked very well for us.

Super easy to install and gives complete privacy while still allowing some natural light to come in. Absolutely love it for the windows by the front door of my house.

Underwhelming finished product. This was very difficult to install. The product is very thick and therefore difficult to cut even with a new razor blade. After several applications it would not fully stick to the glass in several areas. There were gaps at the edges that even with repeated attempts to get it to adhear it would not. Also has some air bubbles that appeared a few days after the application. During the first attempt it started to fall off of the glass. Having installed other glass frosting products in the past I would not recommend this and would opt for a product that had adhesive. The one window that I did manage to complete has small areas along the edges where the product simply wouldn't adhear. I ended up removing the product from the window and will try something different.

Applying this frosted film to the window of my kitchen door was a piece of cake! The following is a list of tools that are an absolute must if you want the job to look professional: - squeegee - old credit card - utility knife with 2 or 3 new sharp cutting blades (I used the ones that look like a trapezoid, see photos) - a long straight edge, preferably a t-square - a spray bottle filled with water and a few drops of dish soap (I used Dawn) - microfiber cloth - rubbing alcohol WINDOW PREP 1. It’s important that the window is squeaky clean and has no residue anywhere. Be sure to remove any caulking around the window edges with the utility knife. 2. Wash the window with either window cleaner or distilled vinegar mixed with water. Newspaper works better than paper towels for wiping down the glass. 3. Finally, put some rubbing alcohol on a microfiber cloth and clean the glass again. This provides a squeaky clean finish. Use a new blade when cutting the film. I cut it 1/2” wider and 1/2” longer than the actual window measurements. This is important… be generous with the water when spraying the window before applying the film. Once the film is lined up on the window, use the squeegee to remove any air bubbles working from the center out. Put a new blade in the utility knife and cut off the excess film. If there are any bubbles around the edge, use the old credit card to remove them.

Update since I wrote this review: I have had these up for several months now, no issues what so ever. I live in Houston where our windows sometimes sweat, I've had no issues with this film staying on. I can leave my blinds open all day and when I go to bed I just close them. No one can see in but I close them in case someone gets right up to the window and peeks into a crack where I might not have cut the size perfectly. I know a few others have said theirs hasn't stayed on the window. I did clean my windows pretty hastily, but did clean them before putting my film up. Hope this helps. First Review: I just put this up today in one of my windows. I have no idea if it will stay put so check other reviews for that. What I know - it is absolutely what I wanted. It lets so much light in but doesn't show in or out. If I was close to the window, it might show an image but I'd have to be really close. It's plain, mostly opaque, and went up easily. Here are my tips: I didn't have everything to complete the job so I used my pancake spatula instead of a squeegee, I didn't have a box cutter so I made a template ahead of time and used that to trace and cut the exact size I needed. I didn't have a spray bottle so I had a small bottle from Bath and Body Works w a small amount of fragrance left - poured that elsewhere and used that small spray bottle. So, the biggest challenge I had was trying to pull the backing off, it took me a long time with each. When I do the other window, I will peel, then use my template, and I will make sure to leave something small between the backing and the window film (a sticky?) so I don't take five minutes each time trying to separate the back from the film. Hope this helps. I love open windows - live in a downstairs apartment, I will be able to raise the blinds all the way up and no one will be able to see in but I'll have the light!

We love this product. It was easy to install and works exactly as advertised. The film goes on pretty easily and is perfect for the patio door. It reduces the heat coming through. We need to order again to do a few more windows in the house.
