Top notch fragrance at a very affordable price
Bought this and a couple other C.O. Bigelow colognes on a whim. The Elixir Black Pepper cologne comes in a small black glass bottle. The bottle has a reassuring weight. The first spray was a bit weak but the second spritz was quite substantial. The scent of the cologne is a sweet, spicy masculine fragrance. The box mentions bourbon, black pepper, sandalwood, vanilla, and musk. I don't know that I pick up all of those but whatever the combination it smells very good to me. I have gotten a few compliments on it from ladies at my office. The only downside I have found is that the scent does not seem to last long. After less than five hours the scent is nearly undetectable. The presence of the scent around you will probably be just a bit less than arm's length. To me this is a good thing as I prefer that my fragrance NOT fill the room as soon as I enter.

Meh
I was hoping it would smell like black pepper... overly sweet but it's strong. It will last most of the day.

Fragrance seemed weak in scent compared to the body wash and shampoo. Was hoping for a little more considering the price I paid

Nice smell
It is a very good product. More suited for the evening events. You don't want to use it at work. A bit heavy for day time.

Spice and booze notes, but not quite a bay rum.
I bought this after somehow losing my bottle of Tommy Bahama on a business trip. There are a few differences, but I'm astonished at how well, sight unseen and scent unsmelled, this filled in for the pricier fragrance. There's a bit less rum and a bit more whiskey, but it's still got a similarly spicy nose. I quite like it. It's not quite as tropical as a Tommy Bahama, but it's a bit more grounded and earthy in the top note without getting too dank or mushroom-y. It's light but substantial, which is more than can be said for most entertainment these days. Damn kids, stay offa my begonias!
