The material is able to be cut into different shapes after it is carved and is not already mounted on a hard backing. The whole material is flexible. Hope that helps.

I'm interested in using a laser cutter with this material--is it compatible with most laser cutters?

I bought this at a hobby shop tried it on the laser at a makerspace not knowing it was made of PVC. The laser cut into it and I had it go two passes, but it also charred the surface making it black. I had to stop because it was flaring up and smelled weird. I really wish the fact it is made of PVC was written clearly on the product. Scary to think I was exposed to chlorine gas!!!
