best wet-type spray lube
rule #1 - don't use WD-40 for anything!rule #2 - for anything where a wet type spray lube is needed, use Tri-Flow. The lubrication qualities are very good for a thin oil. The persistence in the lubed areas is very good. Seems pretty resistant to water washout. Anti-corrosion seems pretty good. As near as I can tell this stuff never completely dries out. That is a good thing, because most light oils, when they dry out, leave behind something like varnish which will gum up the things you want lubricated. I have exterior locks on my cars that were lubed with tri-flow about 6 years ago and they still work great. Great for bicycle parts, blow-off valve on your turbo car, makes locks operate smoothly, etc. The little tube is good for getting it into small areas. As for WD-40, as I said, don't use it. If you have some WD-40 you want to use up, you can use it as a cleaning fluid on any metal thing that you can completely disassemble to wipe off all the oil with a rag so you don't leave any behind. Then lube it with Tri-Flow! I took a machine shop class one year in college where at the start of the year, all the ways and turrets on all the machine tools were stuck because they had been put away the previous year with WD-40. Man was the instructor mad! It took us days to loosen everything up, and still the precision ground metal surfaces on the machines were covered with yellow varnish left behind by the WD-40. Yuck!

Way better than WD 40.
Works great to lubricate and clean. I use it on anything metal.
