Commodore X3 Best Badger Hair Brush Large - Imitation Ivory

Not so soft that there's not enough backbone as some ppl have said in their reviews. Brush has nice backbone and yes, the boat hair is soft alright.Size is big compared to other brushes. Check out the pic below. For reference I have put it next to a coffee mug to give you an idea of its size. Makes great lather and stays moist and warmer than a boar brush. These come sterilized from the factory and ready to use. The handle is faux ivory, still nice though. Before this brush I owned two Omega bore brushes with resin (plastic) handles which split and cracked at the base of the knot in less than one years' time. I am hoping this will not be the case with Simpsons.From my research on this, I have learned that I might have been putting the brush in water too hot for the handle and that this might have caused the bristle to expand and crack the plastic. Who doesn't want a hot shave? I was using a scuttle and putting it in the microwave for really hot water. From now on its just going to be warm tap water for my new brush.

I know its pricey for a shaving brush, but you pay for what you get. This is extremely well made and I can see this lasting for many years to come as long as its taken care of. It dries well and I have had no bristle loss. I would highly recommend it if you are considering taking the plunge.

I love this brush! I have only used it five times and it continues to get softer. A wonderfully thick brush that can hold a lot of water... which helps in making a faster, perfect lather.

There is a reason they have been around so long and have such a great reputation.
