Must read book
Schopenhauer is the best philosopher ever lived. Everyword he sayes is a pure gold. this book about worledly wisdom and how a wise man can live in our today's worled which we all we know it is a jungle. schopenhauer is a pessimist and said that the world is just a mistake and a thing that ought not to be. But since we are here already let us make the best out of it ang go thru it with the least damage to us from others as possible. This book is a must-read one and after couple of years reread it again and you will see it in a different light due to our accumulated experience we allways acquiring. For the completion of Schopenhauer's philosophy I recommend The Will's Harmonic Motion: The Completion of Schopenhauer's Philosophy .

A good baby step into Schopenhauer.
Well... Artie isn't going to win the women's vote... that much is clear. Still, there are interesting thoughts here, even in his essay on women.I don't have any direct experience with Schopenhauer outside this work and know only what I was taught from Russell and, more especially, Durant. Given that, I can conclude, while the interested reader will find some good here, they will not find the genius of the man.Still, I like short books, when they are deep, and this was very easy to digest in a few short sittings. I enjoyed it.

but if you like to think outside the box
The title might scare off many, but if you like to think outside the box, you'll be pleased whether you agree with him or not. This is one of the few philosophers who "speaks" to me. The clarity of his prose is profound and thought-provoking.

An interesting discourse on Pessimism
A collection of Schopenhauer's Essays speaking on the Sufferings of the world, the vanity of existence etc.. He further dwells on subjects like suicide, immortality, education, women, noise, parables... The essay on women would raise some eyebrows today though... Probably just a reminder that reading any philosopher's work requires some understanding of the context of his writings that moulded his views... But hopefully the best of them can rise beyond such petty concerns?

Acceptance of the world we live in
Separating the duality of how you feel and what actually is.Do we not all comfort our suffering by acknowledging someone else is suffering more than we than we are. Undeniable truths of our existence and human experience.
