Some of the best books
I think with Janice Cantore having been in law enforcement helps her writing in such positive ways. I am so grateful to have found this author. And this series is incredible. I really appreciate the elements of faith woven in.

Excellent, Exciting Christian Suspense!
I love it! This novel, and this series, is one of the very best of Christian suspense! This is #2 in an exciting 3-novel series in the author's Cold Case Justice series. It is best that they be read in order as there is a cold case that continues through each of the three. The author provides excellent, complex characters that one learns about not just through her prose but by the dialog, actions, and faith (or lack thereof) in each person. The protagonists are very likable. It opens with a gut-wrenching choice that many cops have to during their careers, except this isn't the typical bad guy-type choice. The plot is top-notch, with many exciting, heart-pounding, or heart-breaking moments. Bad guys abound, but it is not easy to determine who the ones for each case. There is an occasional red herring, and I particularly appreciate what Woody and Luke found...and how they, with Abby, try to determine the truth behind the find while working on cold cases separate from the primary one. This series has been very well planned and executed! The author is organized, and each character grows or is consistent through each novel. I highly recommend Burning Proof and the first and third in the series!

I enjoy this author's romantic suspense books
Mostly, I enjoy this author's romantic suspense books, even though the characters tend to indulge in a bit more introspective angst than is to my personal taste. The plots fall within the boundaries of "willing suspension of disbelief" and the characters h ave clearly delineated personalities. Having said that much, I hope the following does not offend. I get annoyed by references to things such as "finding faith" (as if it was a coin someone had accidentally dropped on the sidewalk and the character picked it up) or "finding God" (as if an omnicient, omnipotent, omnipresent deity had somehow been misplaced). This is compounded by the references to the importance of going to "church" -- but never to any specific church with any specific doctrines or theology. Nobody ever seems to be Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopalian, Presbyterian, Baptist, or even (forgive me, Tyndale Publishing House) Dutch Reformed. Conversely, the author seems to assume that it is somehow cutting edge to have the lead characters think or say something about "Christian drivel" before they get around to "finding faith." It's just, somehow, such an unrealistic depiction of membership in a community of faith that runs through the books.

Excellent
This is a clean romantic suspense that keeps the reader hooked from the start. There are hints of romantic interest perfectly blended with suspense and faith.

Looking over some of my past attempts many places seem flat or dull. I ask myself
"Fiction Writing Modes" is my first reading of a how-to on the art and craft of story / book writing. I found it well organized and clearly stated to provide me with a go-to source to help me over those sticky and/or crude places. Looking over some of my past attempts many places seem flat or dull. I ask myself," Why would anyone want to read this, let alone enjoy it?" Your orderly presentation will become a welcome addition to my helps shelf. I thank you much for your direction and suggestions,

This was just as good as the first in the series
This was just as good as the first in the series. I love the relationships in this story. I love Woody & Abby. They seem like family. There is so much action. I liked the relationship with Molly & Abby & am glad the way that part ended. I am glad Abby got some answers in this story. This really seems like a story in today's news. I can't wait for the next one Catching Heat to come out in September. I have already preordered it.

Another great novel from Janice Cantore
I love reading Janice Cantore novels, and this one is another great read in this series. I love the characters and the suspense. I like that the romance isn't cliche, and that we get to see the characters work through their own personal struggles. Overall a well crafted suspense novel and I look forward to the next in the series.

Captivating Suspense
Second book in the series was even better than the first, but I think you need to read the first to appreciate this novel.Complicated plot, wide cast of characters. Held my attention all the way to the end.
