Q: does this model play regular DVDs as well as Blu-ray?

Yes it will, depending on your region. On the bottom of my player is the number 1. This number corresponds to the region where you are located, i.e. Region 1 covers the United States, Canada, U.S. territories, and Bermuda. Additionally, the DVD's will have a number on the DVD case or Disc that will identify what region they are. If it matches with the player, then you are good to go. Q: where do the ear buds plug in? Cannot see a hole on the unit for the plug in

They are just a freebie.The DVD doesn't use earbuds.

Q: Does this require wifi to work ?Or can i connect it to a tv through bluetooth ?

It connects to TV thru HDMI cable. It uses WiFi or Bluetooth to connect to the internet to permit access to Netflix or other streaming services. In addition it uses this wireless connection to download and install updates to any installed apps or to its own software.
