9/28/16 *UPDATED REVIEW* Now that I've had this product several months, I wanted to write an update to my review. Several months into using this, I've decided to go back to a regular coffee maker. After trying to adjust the amount of grounds, the type of grind used (fine, course, etc), it still takes too long to brew a cup of coffee. I have to fiddle around with stirring the water, tapping the filter against the mug, all in an effort to try to get the drip going. By the time I get one full mug, the coffee is warm to almost cold. As much as I liked not having the "footprint" of a coffee maker on my small cupboard, I'm going back to a regular coffee maker. That actually saddens me. I'm quite disappointed in this purchase. For the cost I paid, I could have gotten a cheap coffee maker that made coffee immediately.Original review: purchased this product because I wanted to get away from using filters. Pretty happy with this, thus far. Still trying to figure out the best amount of grounds for my tastes. Product is very sturdy, and the coffee flows out fairly fast. Also, I'd advise watching the price, as right after I ordered it, it was listed for $4.00 less than what I paid. Not happy about that.

I have been making pour-over coffee for years, using the Melita plastic cup that requires paper filter inserts. I had recently researched pour-over systems for a young friend who is off to college in the fall (HINT HINT for those of you sending students off to college), so I had this on my back burner for me in case I needed to replace mine. Well, my plastic cup cracked and I immediately ordered this for myself. It is simple to use and it makes a great cup of coffee. The wide base makes it easy to fit onto almost any coffee mug; I have one that has a very wide top and this system just fits. This stainless steel system is well made and I know it will last a long time....and I don't have to buy paper filters any more!EDIT: This system worked for several months. Then it ceased being an efficient way to brew a cup of coffee. As has been pointed out by others, the water barely dribbled out and I'd have to try to stir constantly to get the grounds out of the way for coffee to trickle -- and by the time that was done the coffee was cold. I tucked it away and forgot all about it until I was cleaning out my cabinet. For the heck of it, I scrubbed it inside and out with an old toothbrush and Dawn hoping maybe the little holes were clogged; tried it again and it still doesn't work. Can't figure out why, but it just went in the garbage.

I already have an Aeropress manual Coffee Maker but was looking for something simpler, and easier to clean. The aeropress works well enough but has 6 plastic parts, requires the purchase of paper filters when the initial supply runs out, and is more time-consuming. I purchased the Java Llama Pour Over Coffee Maker because it has only 2 parts (!) and is made of quality Stainless Steel. Plus it looks cool (love the little llama logo). It's compact, lightweight and extremely easy to clean. I took it with me to a high-end B&B so I could make my own coffee in my room -- don't like how the water tastes when it runs through those electric pots. It was so easy and quick to use (comes with simple instructions written by someone who obviously loves coffee) and my coffee tasted clean and delicious! It was also a breeze to clean-up. Would be great for camping. I plan to take mine with me when I travel, and will purchase a second one to keep at my office. A very fair price compared to other pour overs. There's a little llama on the measuring spoon too!

Finally my quest for a perfect cup of coffee has struck solid gold. Automatic drip was not the ticket. French press devices were good, but they are always flimsy and the last one I ordered came apart after making the second pot of coffee. But this little gem simple yet brilliant, has no moving parts. Nothing to break. And cleans up in a snap. The coffee it brews is simply delicious. Same ground coffee in other devices was mediocre at best. But this device achieved what the others could not by delivering full bodied coffee, rich in its natural oils without any bitterness or burnt aftertaste. Delicious. For those who know a good cup of coffee and know how to pamper themselves. Really impresses my guests. It's 5 stars all the way. Where have you been all my life?

Quick way to get ONE good cup of coffee...works easily..

I was excited about making my coffee with this until today when the welds broke causing the basket to break away from the metal ring it was attached to. I've had the item for 33 days and used it about a dozen times. When checking to see if I could return for replacement, the return window was 30 days. Of course. Very disappointing.

'Bought this for our daughter so she could make her own "regular" coffee in the morning since the rest of us are latté fans. This simple device is easy to use, easy to clean and provides a good cup of regular coffee if you use good ground coffee beans.

Didn’t last very long. Top metal ring separated from mesh.
