Charlie and the Christmas Kitty: A Christmas Holiday Book for Kids (Charlie the Ranch Dog) Hardcover – Picture Book, September 25, 2012

The pictures were bright & the Bassett was drawn realistically and was fun to read.

A few years ago I purchased "Charlie, the Ranch Dog" for my daughter, who was 20 at that time. Her dog resembled Charlie so much I just had to get it for her. Since then I have purchased every new "Charlie" book I could find and have put them away for my grandchildren when and if I have them. If that's not in the cards, I'll donate the books. Either way, any child that is introduced to him, will find a sweet, gentle and very funny dog that they will fall in love with! I'm so glad I stumbled upon "Charlie", even at my age, you just have to smile as you read and look at the absolutely beautiful illustrations found on page after page! Take a chance on "Charlie. Your children will love you for it.

I was able to keep my grandson, Buck, for five days in September. I bought Charlie The Ranch Dog to have at my house, to read to him during those five days. I quickly lost count of the number of times he brought me that book to read. I'm guessing it was well over 100 times. He loved the book! When I was to keep Buck again in late September, I took Charlie & The Christmas Kitty with me. I had planned it to be a Christmas Gift but couldn't wait that long. Once again, Charlie captivated Buck. We were together just for the weekend and I read Charlie and The Christmas Kitty to him multiple times. The best part of reading these two books to Buck has been that I enjoy them too. I love Ree's tongue-in-cheek writing style, and each sentence lends itself to using broad voice tones. I highly recommend both of these books to anyone interested in reading to a child. Buck is 18 months old and already is a bookworm.

The media could not be loaded. The book is adorable! Much larger than I thought it’d be but that’s great! Makes the price worth it. I wish it came in a board book option for my littles but this will be a great book to bring out every Christmas! We have a basset so I love that they can relate to this! Wanting to get the others as well

My daughters, 3 years and 13 months both love Charlie! I have been an avid reader of Ree's blog for years now, and am also greatly enjoying her show on The Food Network. It is the only "grown up show" that I can watch with my kids and not worry about questionable material. I also trust these books! They are fun, with beautiful illustrations. I purchased this book on Amazon and the price was GREAT for a new book. Christmas in September??.. yes please. My daughter actually sleeps next to both of her Charlie books, wedged near her pillow. We also have a rascally basset hound in our family and my hope is that he, too is as loveable and well behaved as Charlie is. This book will make a great addition to our collection of Christmas books that we love to read on Christmas Eve (it's our tradition). Thanks to Ree for helping add to the magic of the holidays...Lord knows, my husband is grateful for the wonderful recipes she has provided over the years, too!!

Absolutely, the most awesome illustrated Christmas book I've ever bought. Her stories are delightful and I love the looks on the kids faces when I read it to them. I have a daycare for Autistic and "Special" little people and they delight in these books and are always overly excited when it's time to read one of her books again. I hope she continues with these awesome kids books she writes. I've purchased both and they are wonderful for kids of all ages!

Great illustrations, cute story, who doesn't love Charlie? The only negative is that it could have had more pages, the story was over way too soon. Maybe a little more content on your next book, Ree, you spin such wonderful tales, I think I love your stories more than my granddaughter and hope there will be many more! I'm a huge fan, have faithfully followed The Pioneer Woman for years, and am so thrilled that this woman with her (extra) ordinary life has been so successful.

I love a book that can take a reader to an experience they might never really get to have. Working in lower socio-economic schools for many years, I saw the joy in children's faces when I shared a book with them that took them to an adventure. And, here we go again, out to the ranch with Charlie & a new friend or two. Without Diane de Groat's colorful & detailed illustrations, this book would not be nearly as fun. Just to see snow for some children will be exciting! But to see the details of ranch life (boots, lasso ropes, & cowboy hats, etc.)makes it seem like we are in the story as well. No one in the story seems to notice the little chipmunk that hides on most pages but the reader surely will have fun looking for it. The recipe at the back of the book seems to be an add on but then the author Ree Drummond is a cookbook author & food network star. Get your holiday shopping done early with this title.
