I like this style of buckle much better than those with ...
This is my second belt from this seller. I like this style of buckle much better than those with the small thumb lever used to release the ratchet. However, I was not very happy when the belt's color bled onto my white shirt after being submitted to Dallas humidity and heat; I hate it when $30 dollar belt ruins a $100 shirt!***Update***After reading my review, the seller of this belt credited my account for the cost of the belt and credited my account another amount to cover the laundering of the shirt discussed in the review. This was all done without any contact with me or from me. I have to say this was a stand-up move on the business' part, and has made an impression on me. Only after the credit to my account was complete was I contacted by a representative of the company, Eddie. The steps taken, and the time to address the issue to ensure satisfaction is admirable and will drive me to purchase from them again. I recommend this business based on their response to this particular issue.

I love both belts
Received the product a few days ago and its truly impressive for the price. I have been using ratchet belts since 2012 and it has mostly been SlideBelts which cost about $45 these days (a bit pricy for a belt). Came across these belts and thought to give it a try. The buckle ratchet system works exactly as slidebelts but slidebelts for some awkward reason are a bit louder. I love both belts. But for the price Maino belts are clearly a better option. The only thing is that Slidebelts have lasted me for quite some time and I have yet to see how Marino belts fare in terms of durability.Just a side note: I had a slight issue with my purchase and they sent me a brand new belt as a replacement, with an expedited shipment. Very pleased.

For the price the quality CANNOT be beat
For the price this CANNOT be beat. The leather has that ever so slightly plastic look to it but is VERY durable. The buckle mechanism is very sleek in appearance and extremely high quality. Just like anything if you don’t take care of it or ratchet WAY too tight repeatedly for months I could see how it could wear out in a year or so.I got the charcoal depiction - tan for in person color reference. The guides on the back for cutting are very helpful but I HIGHLY recommended whatever pants size you wear (for men) then trim 2-3 above that first.Great product and I’ll definitely buying one in another color

"Marino leather belts for men are made with genuine leather concealed with fortifying polyurethane."
"Marino Men’s Genuine Leather Ratchet Dress Belt with Linxx Buckle, Enclosed in an Elegant Gift Box - Moch Brown Design Buckle with Tan Leather - Custom: Up to 44" Waist" was the item's lead in description. Then you get 5 bullets of how great the product is. It isn't until you scroll way down to the Product Description that you see:"Marino leather belts for men are made with genuine leather concealed with fortifying polyurethane."The way other reviews are saying that the belts split, break, and the poly bubbles, they're probably bonded leather coated with covered with polyurethane. Most probably no better than my present belt that has embarrassingly chipped away to look like what I had sworn never to fall for again. But I did. I fell for what I thought was honest advertising and bought 4; 3 as gifts and 1 for myself. Too late, Christmas is too close to look for alternatives.

Don't think twice...
I hate how some of the reviews make you think twice, three times, ten times about whether to buy or not. With this belt, there should be no reason to think twice. Material is durable (I tried bending, twisting, everything I could to get the leather to crack and it didn't), and feels high quality. The look is professional (I work in the finance industry, and feel very comfortable wearing this), and the buckle does not stick out too far (one of my initial concerns).I will be going back to buy more of these in different colors and styles.

Really nice belt
I have the Black Design Leather Buckle With Black Leather. This is my 3rd ratchet belt, and my first Marino. The first ratchet belt was sturdy to the point of distraction - it was heavy, and will probably be in great shape 25 years from now. Fantastic belt. But HEAVY. My second is pretty light weight, and I like it, too. It's great for shorts and everyday wear. This Marino belt is not light, but not too heavy. It's solid, I like it a lot. I'm a bigger guy and it suites me well. It's a little dressy-er than my lightweight belt.A small thing that's really nice - the belt has lines on the back of where to cut it if you want to cut it down to a smaller size. I think these straps come in two standard lengths. So cutting it down is needed if you have too much strap flapping at your side after you get it adjusted. For example there's a printed line with the waist size number to help cut the strap down to 48 inches for example. I used ordinary house scissors. I do not recall that I summoned up super human strength to cut it.So yeah, really nice belt.

Looks like they fixed the problem.
Ratchet mechanism works well - provides much better adjustment than traditional belts. Great idea. But like other reviewers, eventually had trouble with the other end of the belt coming loose when the "teeth" ripped thru the belt material. Only solution was to keep cutting off a small section to provide a new surface for the teeth to grip. Eventually, belt is too short to use.Better idea would be to provide a permanent link (like traditional belts do) and offer the belt in different sizes.UPDATE: I was contacted by the seller a few weeks ago and they agreed to provide a replacement. I thought they would replace only the belt and instead they sent a complete new package with belt, buckle, etc. Thought I'd try it for a few weeks before making a comment, and after three weeks, the 'teeth' in the clamp mechanism seem to be holding.. I love the ratchet mechanism which works great.Looks like they may have fixed the problem.

Great Products; even better customer service!
This company’s products are excellent. I’ve just purchased a second time, in two years. The ratchet belts, generally speaking, are an insanely good idea; making being ‘caught between two holes’ a thing of the past, due to tiny incremental adjustments. Traditional belts now make about as much sense, to me, as a manual gearbox and a clutch pedal. However, customer service is always a concern, when purchasing online. My son inadvertently ruined his first belt, when he (somehow) tore it. The leather is so sturdy and well-constructed, it’s even impossible to do this on purpose, without a knife; trust me, we tried! Unfortunately, after two years, it was out of guarantee and so I contacted Marino to see if I could purchase a strap, without the buckle. Whilst this wasn’t possible, I was offered a generous discount, to achieve a similar outcome. Moreover, the attentiveness and customer driven service of this company was of the highest order.Whether the belts are right for you is a subjective opinion. That aside, if you have any concerns about the vendor, Marino, I believe you can rest easy on that score. I would go out of my way to buy from them, after my experience.

Very pleased, great product.
A very good quality leather belt at a very reasonable price. The buckle is heavy but it is solid and well made. The ratchet system is great for small adjustments that can be made very quickly and easily, I'm amazed I've not seen this system used before now. It can make a slightly embarrassing noise when you do adjust it (no one is going to assume it's the belt that made it!) but if you raise the buckle slightly you can adjust it silently too! It's very easy to cut to length and put together (it comes in separate pieces with a length of belt and the buckle). You cut the leather to length using a large pair of scissors as I did (there are markings on it to guide you) then attach the buckle using the toothed clamp that is an integrated part of it. It's a very easy and effective way of attaching the two together. It's straightforward to remove the buckle too if you need to make the belt shorter, as I did initially (and hope to do again - diet and exercise permitting!). I would definitely recommend it.

Leather cracked/broke after 6 months...
Initially, my husband loved this belt. He normally uses a high-end leather belt with traditional buckle. Once he got used to this buckle, this became his go-to belt. Unfortunately, after about 4 months of actual wear, the “leather” began to crack and finally simply snapped at a hidden join in the back part of the belt. This is NOT a leather belt, and I’m extremely disappointed. Expected MYCH more from the maker. Would not recommend this brand.

Self releasing belt!
When it arrived I was fairly pleased and initially it worked as I would have expected. I have a similar belt that has been faultless since day one so I was able to make direct comparisons. However, this belt has steadily developed a habit of unlatching all by itself. The latching mechanism seems to have weakened to the point where the slightest pressure on the buckle causes it to loose it grip and the belt then goes slack. I can no longer use this belt which is a shame given its excellent overall appearance.

Classy, understated quality belt - so good I ended up buying two more
This is a very good, understated ratchet style belt. It is slightly narrower than similar belts and the matching buckle centrepiece being leather too give the belt a classy but understated look. The belt is made of a good grain leather and is smooth on the underside. Helpfully it comes marked at waist sizes to allow accurate measurement. You will need to tuck the end piece into a trouser belt loop, so my advice is don't cut this exactly first time. Give your self a little to spare and trim down until you get it just right. the ratchet mechanism is of the 'buckle lift' variety and I think is better than the small buckle button found on similar belts. The price/quality ratio is fantastic. Best belt I have ownedComes with a little key ring attachment of the variety to hook unto a belt look and let the keys dangle.UPDATE July 2017 These belts are so good that I've bought two more. Classy on both a suit and on casual clothes.
