Great for aggressive chewers
My dog is an aggressive chewer so they are great for her. I would love to have one a bit thinner so it could fit in a holder so it is easier for her to hold while eating. This keeps her busy and is long lasting. I have purchased these multiple times.

Long lasting
I have two medium to small size dogs and the really like this. And it lasts a long time. We’ve had it a couple of months and it’s still part of their chew rotation of chews.

Great option for chewers with allergies (always consult your vet)!
The newest addition to the family came to me in terrible condition, systemic antibiotic-resistant infection, all orphis’s, skin and paws bleeding, scabbing and oozing. As we got the inflammation, yeast and infection down, we realized that she may also have severe allergies. She is now only allowed to ingest prescription hydrolyzed protein wet/dry food from my vet. She is a massive chewer, I’m talking will eat wooden furniture and paper products (books, etc.), if she doesn’t have cow cheek rolls, Himalayan yak milk sticks and other hard and delicious flavored chews. She’s torn up every natural rubber lick mat, chew toy/treat dispenser and puzzle she’s been given. So when her vet said that she was no longer allowed to have any kind of chew that was flavored, I got very nervous that she would not have any interest in chewing them and would look for a dresser to eat. I figured because she is preferable to chewing on wooden things, this Dogwood chew toy might just do the trick. She took it from me immediately, sniffed it a bit and soon after decided that she really wanted to chew on it for a good 45 minutes straight. She is 26lbs, so I figured I would get the size small because she is right at the small/medium cut off and if she didn’t like it my other little chewer could use it (she is 11lbs). Right after my bigger girls finished the smaller chewer had a go for about 10-15 minutes and made absolutely no damage and she can do some damage for a little lady. They both love it, so I am getting another one in size medium! The size small is just not quite big enough for my big mouthed Frenchy mix (26lbs). She did quite a bit of damage for the amount of time she had it, but I think that is more of a reflection on my size choice than the product. The product is a uniquely hard material, but not like other equally durable toys that get sharp or splinter off in dangerous pieces. Even though my bigger girls chewed about 50% off of the diameter on about 1” of length on the thinner end, it is not sharp whatsoever and doesn’t look like it is at-risk of breaking off or splintering into sharp unsafe pieces any time soon or at all. If a piece ever did break off, because of the natural and quality material, I do not believe there is great risk of choking or injury if it was to be swallowed/eaten. The material gets ever so slightly softer when it is moistened from their chewing. How it remains hard and durable while softening, I have no clue. I do wish there wasn’t such a huge price gap between the sizes when they are not significantly different (this is the only reason I removed 1 star). Overall, I believe this is a quality option for chewers, especially ones with allergies (or think they may have allergies). Their texture and durability keep my dogs engaged, provide them with enrichment and tucker them out. They are also super cute and of course a neutral color so it doesn’t stand out in an overstimulating-neon way. Of course, if your vet has severe food or environmental allergies, please consult your vet. Please disregard her baldness, her fur has just started growing back!

Great for dogs who love to eat wood!
I just adopted a beagle mix who is about 12 weeks old, 8 lbs. or so, and beginning his teething phase. We are working on drop it because he is the type that LOVES to eat anything and everything off the ground when we go for walks. Since I live in an urban area, there is a lot of litter and a lot of mulch around. In just this last week he has tried to eat a full menthol cigarette, a receipt, an entire paper towel, bees, butterflies, wasps, weeds, a plastic bag, a black and mild wrapper, poop, a dead squirrel, a live snake, a toddler's bag of cheerios, a pool noodle, a condom wrapper, ants, a crushed coke can, a coffee cup, but mostly WOOD. Anything wood. Any twig, branch, or piece of mulch, he runs up to it like a kid on Christmas and immediately starts stuffing his face! Since wood and mulch seem to be his preferred method of intestinal blockage that will cost me thousands to fix, I started looking for some fake doggy approved wood chew toys and stumbled across this. I bought him the small since he is still a puppy, and he didn't go nuts for it like I thought he would but he still seems to like it ok, and he goes back to it a couple times per day. I thought it might have been a bust but then I realized his wood addiction seemed to immediately and dramatically decline since bringing this home. Sure, he'll still pick up the occasional stick and I do still have to pull a piece of mulch out of his mouth every now and then, but he isn't obsessively and compulsively driven to them on our walks anymore which has also help a lot with leash training. It's like he knows he has his own wood at home so he doesn't have to try to stuff his cheeks full of wood chips like a deranged chipmunk who thinks he'll never see a tree again. It doesn't have a noticeable odor, it feels a lot like solid wood, and seems pretty heavy duty. With a fair amount of chewing over the last few days, there are some dings and teeth marks but no large chunks missing so I anticipate this will last most of his teething phase. If you have an adult power chewer, I don't think this would last terribly long (but then again, what does?). Overall, a pretty inexpensive way to curb his wood addiction and prevent him from choking or giving himself intestinal blockage. $4 to save thousands or prevent death? Worth every penny!

Weird dog
Seems like a good product, has a good size weight to it, feels solid. But my weird dog doesn't care for it. She will grab it if someone else touches it and if you throw it, she will run to it. But she doesn't chew it or anything.

Amazing and exciting, but not TOO exciting
I've been buying these for a few years now and I hope they never stop making them. They're basically wood that's been chipped up and then compressed. So it seems plastick-y, but is much safer. It's always small, easily passed pieces that come off. One of my boys, a pittie husky mix, was one of 19 puppies and it's frankly shocking that he doesn't have MORE guarding issues. But with high value treats, he does guard pretty badly. But this perfectly skirts the line. He likes it, he chews it, he's fine if his brother comes up and takes it from him. Probably a good idea to toss it when it gets to 2"-3" long, my boys get bored with it once they can't put it between their paws to hold it anyway. It lasts a really long time, like months.

Took our dog a few days to appreciate - now - he uses it a lot!!!! Tough - good - product!
When I first saw it I thought - short, hard and plastic. Henry didn't like it - neither did I. But friends chew toys that last are hard to find - tried venison - too much like rawhide. This works well - still not what I am looking for - but a great substitute until the industry develops the right product!
