I bought the son uva digger and the gravedigger trucks for my son and me. They are both supposed to be exactly the same but for some odd reason the gravedigger is slightly slower. When the controller is set on 50% they are both very controllable and it gets a little harder to control on 75% and almost impossible to control when at 100%. The top speed when on 100% is around 35-37mph. I was totally surprised with the speed especially because of the weight of these trucks. Oh and I run the spektrum 5000mhz 3s battery in both trucks. Hope this helps with your decision. They are super tough and built very good

No, not unless you change either the battery or Lmt connector. Or find a Traxxas to Spektrum adapter.

Q: Would a 9 year old mechanically savvy child be able to use this with a parent, or would you say it's too much for that age to understand and use?

My 8 year old Granddaughter runs my truck with my supervision. The truck is very fast if set at 100%, however the controller has adjustments for 50-75 & 100% of the power level and I set it to the 50% while she is driving it. Just be prepared for them to roll it over and scratch it up a bit because even at 50% it's fast but it holds up very well to some abuse.
