I'm not really into conventional sci-fi, but this book is anything but conventional! It's a great time travel story with some history mixed in with romance and family dynamics. I found the characters to be interesting, lovable and real! Since it is set in NYC, i saved it until I was on my way there for vacation. I finished it my first night home. It was the perfect choice! I highly recommend it!!!

Fantastic time travel book with a unique setting!
A fantastic time travel book with a unique setting! My favorite part about this book is probably the setting. It takes place in New York City and highlights cool historical events that I've never read about before, such as the Lusitania and Nellie Bly.The plot centers around twins, Monroe and Charlotte, who inherit an orb that allows them to travel through time. Monroe's do-gooder boyfriend challenges the twins to consider changing the past in order to achieve better outcomes. But as the stakes increase, they all must decide how much they're willing to give up--from a romantic relationship to Charlotte's own son--in order to stop a bomber from permanently disfiguring New York City.I recommend for those who enjoy time travel, sci-fi, or books set in NYC.

Chaos of "True" Time Travel
A series of bombs slices through New York City, destroying people and buildings and creating a new river. A trio of New Yorkers armed with a time travel device set out to prevent it from happening. If you are a fan of time travel, you really should read this book. The idea of time travel is inherently complex. Like chaos theory, any change changes everything else that follows. Although I have not read a lot of time travel books, the ones I have used plot devices to simplify the consequences of time travel. Zach Milan doesn't do that. He accepts the complexity. Because of this, expect to pay strict attention to the plot's twists and turns. While most of the story concentrates on the goal of saving NYC, he sprinkles in little historical vignettes. Because I'm more of an historical fiction geek more than a sci-fi geek, I was disappointed that there weren't more of these.

Time Travel with a Twist
Here's what makes this novel so special: it's a classic time travel narrative, with all the twisty plot developments and moral conundrums you might expect, but the protagonist is the mother of a small child. As a woman of color, Charlotte faces challenges that other time travelers might never consider. And as a mother, she could risk everything to save New York City--even the very existence of her little boy.In Skyline, Zach Milan shares a deep love for New York: its physical textures, its storied history. But his greatest strength is in showing how relationships and family can change us, making and remaking our identities over time.

You wont want to put it down!
This book was so fantastic! It's time travel with a twist where they are encouraged to change history but also have to deal with the negative ramifications. This novel truly pulls you in from the moment you start reading. The descriptions are so realistic and vibrant, you can actually imagine what it looks like, smells like, tastes like, and sounds like. I found myself laughing and crying with the characters--transported into their world. I was genuinely sad when the novel ended because I didn't want to leave the world of these characters. And as a bonus, I was thrilled to experience some of the places I used to visit so often when I lived in the NYC area, and even learn a couple new things too.

Pedantic historical factoid nerds and Doctor Who fans-- read on!
Got this book on Thursday, and raced through to the finish by Monday night. Perhaps I should have taken more time. The kaleidoscopic world of time travel Zach Milan sets out and just as readily demolishes was impossible to keep up with, taking the reader through back alleys and vanishing doorways, sometimes just to get to a place two blocks away -- sort of like the New York subway system. Milan weaves charming historical moments from New York's past into a myriad of present and futures, giving every choice definitive - although sometimes unpredictable - consequence.A bit too dense to wade through at moments? Perhaps. Although I wonder if he did that on purpose to inspire multiple readings. I would certainly read it again.
